Some things just aren't thought through very well. There are millions of moments of great design out there in the world, but there are many more terribly designed products. Designing something like a great product or a useful gadget, or beautiful piece of architecture, is not easy, but some designs are so bad that it's hard to fathom how someone could mess up that much. It's annoying, unsatisfying, and really ridiculous.
