Restaurants aren't serving food on normal dished anymore. Typical dishes are becoming obsolete, and they are instead being replaced by odd excuses for dishes. It's a strange phenomenon that seems to be occurring in the more fancy, hipster, and so-called millennial restaurants around America. Restaurants want to be different, but people just want plates, and enough is enough.
Ridiculous plating methods come in many forms. From slabs of wood with everything from a sandwich to bacon and runny eggs on them, to pasta being served on a shovel, or tacos being hung on a clothesline. It's hard to say what might be presented when ordering food at a new, flashy restaurant.
Take a look at these examples of meals and dishes that people were served that were not served on a plate or in a bowl at all. Things are getting pretty silly in the fine dining space.
