At some point in many people's lives, there will come a time when they move out of the family home, and into school housing. Dorm life is a pretty normal step for many young adults, and can help them learn independence while at school. While living alone is essential, the idea for kids to return home and visit family during holidays and summer break is pretty normal. Going home is a nice break from dorm life, and usually, families are delighted to see their children.

This college student unfortunately did not have the typical experience. When bringing up the topic of returning home for the holidays, this user's father would not give a straightforward answer, and when the stepmother got involved, things got pretty nasty. This exchange left the user with a dilemma, and wondering where to go from here.

Here, we have summed up what went down in this post, as well as some relevant comments from others, and from the user. Read through this user's situation, and see what they, and others had to say about it all.
