Sometimes all it takes to create a viral reaction meme is one unusually intense stare, and Bonnie Blue’s piercing blue-eyed look has increasingly become one of those instantly recognizable expressions online over the last year.

The "Bonnie Blue Staring" meme, also known as the "Bonnie Blue Eyes" meme, comes from a promotional photograph of the adult actress taken for a Channel 4 documentary.

Since the film's debut in July 2025, the photo has been turned into a reaction image, with meme creators frequently cropping in on Blue’s eyes or adding captions and other edits to emphasize her distinctive stare.

So, how did a promotional photo for a documentary turn into a viral reaction meme, and why are Bonnie Blue’s eyes suddenly all over social media? Here’s how the image took off and what the memes mean.

Where Does The 'Bonnie Blue Staring' Meme Come From?

The image at the center of the meme comes from promotional material for the Channel 4 documentary 1,000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story, which aired back on July 29th, 2025. The photograph was also used as the cover image for the documentary.

The image of Bonnie Blue's piercing gaze was already being repurposed as a meme on the day the documentary aired.

The earliest known example was posted to the /r/dankmemes subreddit, where a Redditor edited the photograph to make a joke about the Fantastic Four character Sue Storm by adding the group's logo to Blue's chest. The post received over 2,200 upvotes in roughly a year.

From there, the photograph began circulating as a standalone reaction image, with users either posting the full picture or cropping it down to Blue's face and eyes. The distinctive stare eventually became the defining feature of the format.
