The meme has been taking over TikTok For Your Pages all week and is now starting to go viral on platforms like Reddit and X / Twitter, with even those outside the fandom becoming obsessed with the concept of Yanagi walking.

What Is The 'Yanagi Walking' Meme?

Tsukishiro Yanagi is a character from the video game Zenless Zone Zero. In October 2024, she was shown off in a demo video on the game's official YouTube page that gained over 1.5 million views.

At one point in the video, Yanagi is seen walking across a city street. This clip is what the Yanagi Walking meme is all about.

In early August 2025, TikToker @atomicfiasco posted a video that included the walking clip that gained over 100,000 views in about a month. Then they posted an edit of Yanagi walking through a spooky setting wearing a Scream mask.

Later that month, the video would inspire another edit of Yanagi walking through the film Brokeback Mountain, setting off a trend.

How Is 'Yanagi Walking' Used In Memes?

The Yanagi Walking meme has steadily grown over the past week, becoming a massive trend on TikTok. The virality was bolstered when TikToker @imcludz released a green screen of the walk, making it easy for TikTokers to edit their own background under the clip. Some have described this as Yanagi "crossing universes."

Popular examples include Yanagi walking through Five Nights at Freddy's, the Adrian Eeffoc meme and through the Fortnite map.

Some TikTokers are also posting reactions to the meme, especially those who don't really understand who Yanagi is or why she's going so viral.
