Like many others online, TikToker @smallarmrants got excited for the Great Meme Reset and had an idea. At the very end of 2025, he posted a video proposing that we end the year with one last, non-brainrot meme to usher in the Meme Reset era.

In the video, he suggests that an image macro of a dancing green bean captioned, "Gween bean whatchu mean," could be that meme. He encourages viewers to use the meme as a reaction image for when you want to say "whatchu mean."

From there, the meme began.

How Is 'Gween Bean Whatchu Mean' Used In Memes?

The dancing green bean first appeared online as early as 2018 as a GIF on Tenor. It is possible that the bean was made in the creature creator of the 2008 strategy god game Spore, where it has been remade several times since.

TikToker @smallarmrants's video gained over 3.5 million views and inspired other TikTokers to post videos sharing the Gween Bean meme. It also inspired TikTokers to post edits of the green bean, altering its color, name and more.

The bean has been showing up in comment sections across the app, making it not only one of the last memes of 2025, but one of the first of 2026.
