There is a special kind of cringe that comes from looking back at something you once genuinely enjoyed and realizing how differently you see it now, especially something from when you were much younger.

In September 2026, TikTok users began revisiting YouTube animator Haminations, with many expressing embarrassment over having watched and enjoyed the channel, while clips from its older videos were repurposed for jokes about talking about yourself and the things you're interested in.

The trend largely centered around Rasmussen's "Who I Am" music video, with users turning footage from the animated song into memes about the awkwardness of introducing yourself, discussing your interests or openly sharing things you enjoy.

So, why are these videos resurfacing now, and how are they used in the "Haminations Cringe" trend? Let's find out.

Who Is Haminations and Where Did The Meme Come From?

Haminations is a YouTube channel run by Bryson Julian Rasmussen, who created the channel on February 20th, 2017, at age 16. The channel primarily features storytime animations based on Rasmussen's personal experiences.

As of mid-September 2026, Haminations has approximately 9 million subscribers and more than 2 billion total views on YouTube.

On December 21st, 2019, Haminations uploaded a video titled "Who I Am (Official Music Video)," in which Rasmussen sings and introduces himself and his interests.

This same "Who I Am" video later became the source of clips and memes that circulated on TikTok in September 2026.

How Is 'Haminations Cringe' Used In Memes?

Seven years after it was uploaded and garnered tens of millions of views, the "Who I Am" video then became the source of clips and memes that circulated on TikTok in September 2026.

Within the trend, users repurposed the footage for jokes about the perceived cringe nature of Haminations, while others used the clips to express the awkwardness of talking about yourself in a social setting to create memes.

One viral example uses the Haminations footage to joke about how the song resembles the kind of descriptions people used to write in their Discord profiles.

@morgopegger TikTok better boost this one on god #fyp #blowthisup #foryou #viral #haminations ♬ original sound – 𝗄 ᦗ 𝖬𝗋 𝗌𝗍𝗋𝖾𝗌𝗌’ ⚓️

Another example from TikTok pairs the footage with a comment comparing the song to what rapper Travis Scott sounds like when you are no longer 12.

@witeral hey my name is Ted and this is who i ammmmmmm #haminations #twitter #funny ##creatorsearchinsights #slander ♬ original sound – ˙ . ꒷ 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹. 𖦹𒉭 ˙--

In a different post, a TikToker uses the Haminations clips to joke about the way English teachers expect students to introduce themselves.

@scratchmypony Then they make you write a personal essay about yourself and if you don’t do it it tanks your grade for half a semester #fyp #meme #haminations #school #blowthisup ♬ original sound – scratchmypony

Through these memes, the Haminations footage was used both to look back on the channel with embarrassment and to joke about the awkwardness of talking about yourself and openly sharing your interests.
