What Is The 'I Need Iron Blocks' Meme? The Viral 'Minecraft: Story Mode' Quote From Romeo, The Admin, Explained
Minecraft: Story Mode (MCSM) character Romeo, also known as the Admin, has inspired countless memes on TikTok this month, based on his quote "I Need Iron Blocks" from season 2.
"INIB," for short, the quote is said in a mocking tone to make fun of the game's protagonist, Jesse, and the people who rely on him or her in Beacontown. The clip has spread in ridiculous brainrot memes recently, generating interest in the original clip.
So, where did the "I Need Iron Blocks" meme come from? Who started it, and who is Romeo, the Admin? Let's explain.
What's The 'I Need Iron Blocks' Original Video?
The "I Need Iron Blocks" scene comes from season 2, episode 5 of Minecraft: Story Mode, titled, "Above and Beyond." It was originally released in December 2017 as the finale of that season.
The villain, Romeo, also known as the Admin, is the one who says it to the protagonist Jesse. For context, without too many spoilers, the Admin has the ability to shapeshift into any character, and in the scene, he's heard complaining about pretending to be Jesse.
"The constant whining," he says, reminiscing on the demands of Jesse's loyal compatriots. The Admin then mocks those demands, saying in a nasally tone, "I need iron blocks. I'm out of bricks. I don't want to be surrounded by lava!"
Where Did The 'I Need Iron Blocks' Meme Come From?
Although the original MCSM episode was released in late 2017, "I Need Iron Blocks" didn't become a full-fledged meme until this year.
What changed? Well, a TikToker named @lumii427 seemingly jumpstarted the trend with a video they shared in late September 2025.
It's a simple video edit meme. Basically, it plays the clip, but when Romeo starts saying, "I need iron blocks," the video becomes low-quality and moldy.

How Is 'I Need Iron Blocks' Being Used Online?
In the aftermath of @lumii427's video, several users have followed in their example, often using its TikTok sound. Several early variants showed people using the Romeo skin in the Roblox game FORSAKEN.
Other videos have shortened the Admin's quote into an acronym, "INIB!" It follows the format of the "SYBAU Picture" meme. The catchphrase has been spreading in TikTok comment sections en masse since.
