What Is The 'Rick and Morty Dance' and How Did The 'I Was Looking For A Job' Meme Start?

The Rick and Morty Dance comes from an AI-generated dance battle video by TikToker @reqdeca, which was posted at the end of March 2026.

In the video, a selection of Cartoon Network characters, including Rick and Morty, Muscleman from Regular Show, Samurai Jack from the show of the same name and more.

The video gained over 2 million views in just a few weeks and blew up in early April when TikToker @diarymarthy_ set it to a remix of The Smiths' song "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now." The remix, made by @dwellsnyc, pairs the lyrics (particularly the "I was looking for a job and then I found a job" part) with a Yeat-style beat.

Now, the video is being further associated with the song as the dance that Rick and Morty hit goes viral.
