This meme, which heavily features the character Luigi from Super Mario, has been spreading across X / Twitter and TikTok, and it's introducing a lot of people to the song "Cry For Me" by Ironmouse.

What Is The 'You Found Lost Media' Meme?

The "You Found Lost Media" meme comes from Pikmin content creator onlyhereforpkmn. On their YouTube channel, the creator has a running joke where they ironically refer to certain games as "problematic media," often accompanying the jokes with distorted imagery of a character.

In October 2025, onlyhereforpkmn made a post on X sharing an image of Luigi next to a distorted Luigi based on the Wega meme. The post is captioned, "You find lost media | It turns out to be problematic media."

This post gained thousands of likes and reposts and was soon followed by another post from the same creator. This time it was a video where Luigi dances under the caption, "You found lost media," then becomes distorted and creepypasta-llike under the caption, "It's problematic media.

The video gained even more attention than the original, racking up over 21,000 likes in a few months.

It inspired similar memes later that year, although the trend didn't really take off until April 2026, when YouTuber SilvaGunner released a remix of Ironmouse's song "Cry For Me" with a song from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

This song and the original Luigi meme were combined by X user @deathgobrr at the end of April, resulting in a viral post that gained over 67,000 likes in a week. Not long after, the meme began to spread across social media.

How Is 'You Found Lost Media' Used In Memes?

The post by @deathgobrr inspired a trend in which people create similar videos of characters dancing under the caption, "You found lost media," followed by a cut to them looking distorted and spooky under the caption, "It's problematic media."

Some of these memes change the term "problematic" to another word that better references the shown character, such as a version that reads "chaos media" in reference to the Deltarune character Jevil.

These memes have largely taken off on TikTok, but they're also going viral on X and YouTube.
