An entire genre of DIY rap music from the United Kingdom is being torn to shreds on social media as the term "UK Poo" goes viral.

UK Poo is a highly critical term for what some people see as the absolute worst examples of U.K. hip-hop music, and examples of the tongue-in-cheek genre are popping up on feeds across TikTok and X / Twitter.

But what exactly is "UK Poo," who came up with the term, and what are some examples of the genre? Here's what we know.

What Is The 'UK Poo' Genre?

The term "UK Poo" was coined by X user @cashyams on July 15th, 2026. They first used the term in a post that shares a video by underground UK rapper Michelin-Lz, where she raps in a heavily autotuned voice with what's been described as an awkward flow.

In the post, @cashyams writes, "There's a genre of music growing on TikTok that I like to call UK Poo," gaining over 10,000 likes while spawning the term.

Cashyams shared several other examples of what he considers UK Poo as comments under the post. These include songs like "Come Slap Me Again" by Savvy, and "Belfast" by D Rebal.

While Cashyams doesn't specifically explain what makes a song UK Poo, the general idea is that it's any bad rap song from the UK.

These examples tend to feature awkward and strange beats, flows and rhyming schemes, autotune, questionable lyrics and low-quality production values.

How Is 'UK Poo' Used In Memes?

The term "UK Poo" has mostly been going viral on TikTok and X as users share the best examples of what they believe fits the genre.

Because the term is so loosely defined, it has come to encompass examples of arguably bad DIY UK rap across the board.

This includes UK rap with an amateur drill sound, rap by unknown artists that incorporate heavy autotune and awkward flows, and rap with poor production values regarding both audio recording and visuals.
