NFL fans have come up with a new nickname for Seattle Seahawks player Jaxon Smith-Njigba, also known as JSN, and it's the "Emerald City Route Artist."

This bizarre nickname was coined by Stay Hot podcast host Blaiden Kirk, and it's been going viral across social media for being a bit too lengthy. Despite that, the nickname seems to be catching on with a lot of fans.

So, what is the exact origin of the "Emerald City Route Artist" nickname, and how is social media reacting to it? Here's what you need to know.

Where Does The 'Emerald City Route Artist' Nickname Come From?

Back in October 2025, a discussion happened in the Stay Hot podcast fan group chat about nicknames for JSN. One user, Spheal, suggested "the Emerald City Route Artist," acknowledging that it's a long nickname, but they don't care.

The nickname makes reference to the "Emerald City," a common nickname for Seattle due to its lush green landscape. The nickname became an inside joke among the podcast's community.

In early February 2026, Stay Hot's host, Blaiden Kirk, asked JSN during a Super Bowl press junket whether he had any nicknames, then suggested "Emerald City Route Artist," or "ECRA" for short. JSN responded by mentioning the name's length, seeming uninterested in adopting it.

From there, Kirk posted the video to X / Twitter, and it went viral, inspiring a lot of reactions about the absurdity of the nickname.

How Is 'Emerald City Route Artist' Used In Memes?

The nickname went viral on X and TikTok throughout early February 2026 as people commented on its length and wondered what exactly it means.

Some NFL fans embraced the nickname and started using it as a joke, referring to JSN as ECRA just to annoy those who don't understand the meme.

On TikTok, users are creating comedy skits, edits featuring JSN and making AI art depicting JSN, often in an emerald city or dripped out in emeralds, alongside the nickname.

Inspired by the memes, Blaiden Kirk made a video explaining the backstory of the nickname, claiming that he wasn't going to tell JSN about it, but then all the reporters in front of him asked the questions he had planned.

Now the only question is, "Will the nickname stick around?"
