Traffic Anchor Learns The Hard Way Why You Don't Wear Certain Colors On TV

A Missouri news anchor has gone viral for a hilarious moment in which her teal vest got green-screened out while she was reporting during a traffic segment, and she noticed when the road map showed up on her vest.

Taylor Johnson is a Missouri-based traffic and streaming anchor for news channel KCTV 5. Johnson also posts content on her Instagram account @newsladytay, where she posts about her work, her life and trending topics.

Johnson recently went viral for a clip of her at work, doing the traffic segment for KCTV 5’s First Warn. But what was meant to be a normal broadcast soon turned on Johnson when she realized her vest had been green-screened. The video garnered over 1.3 million views in just one week.

"The wardrobe malfunction I didn't see coming," Johnson wrote over the video. The video itself is a recording of a KCTV 5 broadcast, specifically of its traffic segment, with funny music playing alongside the clip.

The broadcast showed Interstate 70 past Van Brunt in Missouri. Then, Johnson walked into the camera's view, but her vest was green-screened instead of appearing as it is.

Johnson started to give her report on the road's situation, but she quickly noticed laughter among her co-workers behind the camera. However, she didn't seem to notice what they were laughing at.

"Wait for it, it gets worse," she wrote, while in the video she continued to give her report, not noticing that part of the road was showing on her vest.

"So here's a quick overall look at the metro …" Johnson cut herself off in the video, as the show switched from transmitting images of the I-70 to showing a map of the state of the roads around Kansas City. Now, however, Johnson noticed that part of her map was on her vest, briefly looking down at it in shock and gasping.

"I did not even notice that!" Johnson quickly exclaimed. "This isn't even green! This is teal."

Finally, her co-workers let out their laughs. "The roads are showing up on you!" one of them remarked.

"I don't have a change of clothes, so sorry, guys," Johnson said. "But here's a look at your map," she added, pointing at the map before walking off.

"I don't think you should change; keep it just like that," joked one of the other reporters off-camera.

"I've worn this before; I don't know what happened!" Johnson said, now off-camera as well.

"The rule of thumb is to never wear green on the green screen. Well … I guess now that rule applies to teal 🙃," Johnson concluded in the caption.

In the comments, people joked about Johnson’s hilarious mishap, talking about invisibility and making puns, while other people appreciated that the mishap actually helped them see the map better.
