'Whoever This Is, They Need A Raise': Australian Couple Goes Viral After Finding The Most Perfectly Stocked Supermarket Freezer
An Australian woman went viral after sharing a video of an unusually pristine frozen food section at her local supermarket. The clip showcased rows of products stacked with near-perfect uniformity, with the meticulous organization extending across multiple freezers and different types of frozen goods.
Sarah Mae Ahern, or @sarahmaeahern on Instagram, is an Australian musician and content creator whose posts primarily focus on her music career, along with occasional glimpses into life with her husband Alex and their child.
Ahern's breakout viral video, however, came from an unexpected trip to the supermarket. While grocery shopping with her husband, the pair encountered a frozen food section where seemingly every item had been arranged perfectly in place.
They filmed the display and shared it online, where the video amassed nearly 11 million views, more than 610,000 likes and roughly 7,500 comments over the following three months.
"We are looking at how perfectly stacked everything is in this freezer section," Alex says, while Ahern films him as she laughs, before she pans over to said freezers, which display frozen desserts, pastries and ice cream, every product in it neatly organized.
"Take me for a tour," Ahern says, still filming the freezers as the two walk alongside them. "Oh wow," she adds. "Wait until we get to the frozen peas, is that what you said?" Ahern asks her husband, who confirms it.
"Wow, wow wow!" Ahern exclaims as she films the vegetable section of the frozen food aisle, everything as perfectly stacked as in the previous section. Ahern opens one of the freezers, getting a closer look at how well the products are displayed.
"Oh my god!" she says as she continues walking before opening another freezer to show how the perfect stacking continues. Ahern opens yet another freezer, and the frozen vegetable bags are also displayed perfectly in that one. "No, I've never seen that in my life," she says, disbelieving.
She shows yet another freezer, panning up and down to show how the stacking is consistent across its shelves. "Oh my god," she says, now in the ice section, showing that the ice bags are also stacked in this manner.
"Whoever this is, they need a raise!" Ahern wrote over the beginning of the video. In the caption, Ahern stated that she wished to find the supermarket worker who did this so that they could get recognition for their work, stating that the supermarket in question was Ormeau Woolworths and saying, "Internet, do your thing!"
The comments on the video were filled with people praising the anonymous supermarket worker’s job, with many implying that his perfect stacking was the result of autism or a similar type of neurodivergence. There were even some comments from people who identified this worker.
One day and four million views later, Ahern and her husband did a follow-up video, announcing that they had both found and met the employee who did the perfect stacking, a man named Nigel.
This second video tracking down the employee garnered more than 2.8 million views in the months since.
Two days after posting her original video, Ahern did another update, in which she talked about how the video got them interviewed by a TV news channel and that, because of the repercussions the video had had, her husband and she decided to take matters into their own hands and set up a GoFundMe for Nigel.
Finally, Ahern also made fun of her viral moment by posting a video of how she, as a musician, thought a viral moment would look for her versus what it actually ended up being.
