A routine trip to Walmart turned into a viral complaint after a woman discovered that the $1.99 nail clippers she wanted to buy were locked behind a display.

In a video posted to Instagram by Sally Wagner, she recounted waiting for an employee to unlock the item, only for the worker to seemingly become annoyed upon learning that nail clippers were all she wanted.

Sally Wagner is a Luxembourger woman who documents her travels and everyday life on Instagram under the username @sallywagner688. Several of her previous videos have attracted significant attention, particularly those centered on her experiences in her native Luxembourg.

One of Wagner's most-viewed recent posts, however, focused on an unusual shopping experience during a trip to the Netherlands.

In the video, Wagner described having to wait for a Walmart employee to unlock a display containing the nail clippers she wanted to purchase, as well as the employee's apparent frustration after realizing that she had waited solely for the inexpensive item.

The video starts with a stitch of another man's video. The man is seen standing in a candy aisle in a supermarket and sighing with a frustrated expression, as a song plays, and text above his image reads, "Waiting for a manager to unlock Sour Patch Kids." Wagner's image is layered on top of this video.

Then, Wagner begins to tell her story, looking and speaking to the camera, holding a tiny microphone as she walks through a forest.

"I was at Walmart recently, looking for nail clippers," she begins, "you know, just the little silver ones, the basic ones, you know which one I mean."

"I finally find them, they are $1.99, and they are locked up," Wagner says. "So, you know, I pressed the button, and I end up waiting 10 minutes because the button kept deactivating, so I kept pressing it, and no one was coming over," she explained.

"After waiting for 10-ish minutes, I tried starting to flag people down that were working there, everyone that was passing me," Wagner continued. "And they kept saying: Oh no, I don't have any keys, just wait for someone."

"Someone finally shows up," says Wagner, before explaining that he asked her what she needed, and she said that she just wanted the nail clippers.

The man got the nail clippers out for Wagner, and then asked her what else she needed, to which Wagner responded, "Nothing else, just the nail clippers."

"Just the nail clippers?" Wagner says, quoting the employee, "Just the nail clippers," she repeated, now as herself.

"The two-dollar nail clippers?" she says, quoting him again. "Yes, just the two-dollar nail clippers, yes," she says, as herself.

"You called me over for the two-dollar nail clippers?" Wagner says, once again quoting the employee.

"Yes, because I needed nail clippers; it's not my fault that you were locking up nail clippers that cost $1.99," Wagner expressed. "Why are we frustrated here? I'm frustrated; why are you frustrated?"

"Why is every-, why are we do-, what is happening?" Wagner says, cutting herself off numerous times before finally forming a full sentence, "Why are we doing this?"

In the comments, people empathized with Wagner, while others gave reasons and theories as to why supermarkets lock up simple, cheap products like nail clippers or candies.
