Once upon a time, "Karen" was a lesser-known insult used at difficult customers who always demanded to see the manager. Today, not only has Karen activity and awareness increased, but some self-professed Karens are actually trying to own the look and the brand.

If you've ever worked retail, you know the struggle of encountering someone like this. Not all of us have had a real Karen experience, but you definitely have. We salute you, because anyone able to deal with people like this every day is truly braver than all of us.

We can't imagine encountering any of these people in real life, but we've seen so many jokes about them that we know enough to be uncomfortable and concerned the moment they appear.
