15 People Having A Hard Time Looking For Jobs

Looking for a job in this market isn't easy. There are so many people out there right now struggling hard with the job search, and it isn't even their fault. Looking for a job right now has become a bigger challenge than it should be for plenty of reasons. Even though everywhere seems to be hiring or short-staffed, still so many people are being ghosted by employers and let down every day. There are tons of issues with many of these job ads. Whether it's an utterly insane application process, a boss full of red flags, or a salary that genuinely is not worth it, these people are left with so few choices it's painful.

Luckily there is Reddit's /r/recruitingh***, a subreddit where those looking for jobs can go to share their struggles with others in similar situations. This subreddit contains personal stories, screenshots from listings, and so much more that truly highlights the struggles they are enduring. Here are 15 people who are having a real rough time in the job market.

Recruiter mad about math

+ Follow I still receive resumes every week that: Aren't up to date. Don't include contact information. Are titled "Resume 2024." I have hundreds of resumes saved in my documents- please title it with your first & last name so it's easily searchable. Use wild corporate jargon to describe the duties of their previous roles. List work experiences from oldest to newest- it's confusing and hard to follow. Have weird formats for work tenures (2021 2023? What does that mean? When in 2021 did you start and when in 2023 did you finish? I HATE MATH, PLEASE STOP MAKING ME DO IT. Month and year people, month and year!) Okay, rant over. But seriously, applying to jobs is hard enough- don't let your resume work against you. COO 4,878 642 comments 104 reposts

Hmmm…

+ Follow ... Sr. Recruiting Advisor @Journey || Avid Traveler || Thrift Store Qu... 1d I don't understand why people turn down calls with recruiters. Sure, you might not be looking for a new role right now, but what if the worst happens? What if you get laid off? What if the company closes? Taking 30 minutes to chat with a recruiter means there is someone out there who is already familiar with your skillset and work experience. Someone who will be on your side as you begin what could otherwise be a daunting job search. Someone who most likely already knows one or two openings you could be a fit for. I know we recruiters get a bad rep, but I really enjoy talking to people regardless of whether or not they are interested in the role I am hiring for. No call ever feels like a waste of time to me (unless the person is an a**hole, in which case I will invent an excuse and hang up). Anyway, that's my take- IMO, candidates have nothing to lose by taking 30 minutes to chat with us, and everything to gain. How can building relationships with recruiters benefit job seekers? eco 442 H> 133 comments 5 reposts

Um…

to me v friend hope you a had a nice summer kickoff! This year I'm travelling Europe to meet in person the best talents I engaged with. As you know, you're part of this group. My intention is to provide as much value as I can to our meeting. I'm thinking to: 1. take our meeting inside my T4 Westfalia van. The van brings in cozy seatings, food, drinks, anything to help you being comfortable. It's an alternative environment which might also help you think outside of the box while we talk. I'll do my best to park it close to your area so it can be easily accessed by you. 2. travel exclusively with the van, avoiding public tranport (bus, train, flight..) and motorways/tolls. Driving secondary roads 2. travel exclusively with the van, avoiding public tranport (bus, train, flight..) and motorways/tolls. Driving secondary roads might help me think more independently, connect more deeply with different cultures, and be more productive during the journey (van=vehicle+office+kitchen+bed). This is the van pictures of him in the van... wearing a backwards cap On top of providing a valuable experience to you, the journey is also set to advocate for the principles of human connection, autonomy and openness. I hope this will help creating better startup teams. I'd love to hear your feedback on setting the journey this way. Would you feel comfortable in meeting inside a van? 600
