Absolute Units are defined by the subreddit which exalts and showcases them as "lads that you're in awe at the size of." Images of large individual examples of a class of items or organisms which are typically much smaller are one of the most evergreen forms of entertaining pictures. Cavemen painted them on their walls and Classical artists honored them in oil paintings. Today, we share JPEGs.

Whether it's a record-setting piece of produce or an adorably grand and fluffy farm animal, absolute images come in all shapes but only one size: big. Some have been honored throughout history (see Craven Heifer, down the list here) and others have come about more recently. Some are large for organic reasons, and some have been made larger by objectively unholy methods. You might imagine Absolute Units as outliers, or you could imagine them as ambassadors from an alternate universe, one where everything is much larger and the proportions of reality are more ample than our own.
