25 Bad Chefs Failing In The Kitchen

Online recipes have been lifesavers for so many people over the years. Cooking is a skill and it isn't always an easy one. Some people are just better at cooking and baking than others. Recipes have made cooking easier for everyone though with simple lists of ingredients and step-by-step guides to make the meal. Even with these recipes though some people just can't get it right. Of course, with online recipes, there are also reviews, and it is in these reviews where people's skills in the kitchen really shine through.

Some of these reviews are just insane. People will change a whole recipe and then complain that it didn't come out right, what did they expect? People will also admit to messing something up and still leave a bad review as if it weren't their fault. It's just absurd what some people will try to blame on the innocent recipe. Reddit's /r/ididnthaveeggs is a subreddit that exposes and shares all of these terrible recipe reviews by people who clearly need to step away from the stove. Here are just 25 of them that are worthy of a solid facepalm.

It's not the same thing!

NICOLE August 2, 2024 at 4:06 pm REPLY I made these tonight, and was not impressed! Baking soda and smoker DO NOT MESH! Nothing like eating 4lb of burnt chicken wing. I'll stick to the air fryer recipe! HEY GRILL HEY August 2, 2024 at 8:01 pm REPLY Sorry to hear about your experience. If you decide to try it again, I would follow the post and recipe card instructions which mention several times to use baking powder, and to avoid baking soda at all costs.

Please Sheri…

ood Sheri N. September 9, 2018 I haven't made this recipe, but I came up with my own version of shrimp pot pie using Knorr Parma Rosa sauce mix as base and added Sherry, fresh dill, Creole & or Old Bay seasoning, and red pepper flakes. For filling. I. diced russets potatoes and steamed them before adding to the sautéed carrots, red bell pepper; onion; garlic; & celery. I added the shrimp last and let cook in oven. Covered with store-bought pre-made pie crust, and cooked at 450 for 12 minutes to cook shrimp and pie crust. Delicious! 100 Comment Liz Liz B. January 8, 2019 How is this helpful as a review of this recipe??? Why would you give this recipe a five star review if you have never used it???? Arrrgh. 1+8 Comment

Her recipe is better

Marg August 22, 2024 Sounds good, but I'll stick to my family recipe Half the ingredients, less time, tastes great. Reply Natashas Kitchen August 22, 2024 Thank you for sharing that with me, I hope you still give our version a try! Reply

Take your badge and go

Laura June 13, 2017 at 1:08 pm This could seriously kill you. I think I will try it but change it around a bit. Cut down the sugar a whole bunch, use half and half, maybe a vanilla cream sauce on top. We shall see. This recipe has 5 cups of sugar! Not to mention all of the real cream. I understand the special occasions and it being a recipe from real chefs, but it's proof that chefs don't really care about sending people to early graves as long as it tastes good! This is really amazing that I'm saying this because I usually don't care. This time though, all I can say is wow. Diabetes anyone? Reply Stacey June 14, 2017 at 7:57 pm There's no doubt that if your diet consisted solely of dishes like this, there might be a risk of diabetes, but I hardly think one serving is going to hurt anyone. You certainly get your badge for playing food police today, but I'll leave to each person to make decisions about what's best for them and their families.

State what it doesn't need

Anoymous Reader: February 7, 2006 Although the recipe sounds really good it appears that the meat would burn cooking that long - even at low temp - with only 1 bottle of dressing. Doesn't it need some water? If not - I would recommend that it state in the recipe not to add water. Reply Helpful (0) Report

Just a delight

Marsha Blackwell April 9, 2019 at 3:44 am I'd been putting cream cheese in my mash potatoes for over 30 years. This is nothing new. A lot of recipes these days are either recipes that needs improving or already been thought of or a little of both. Recipes are not like they use to be. Why do people do this?

8. Madelaine Ad says: August 10, 2024 at 5:50 pm These are not brownies. It's a snack cake. I even added two eggs to recipe, and this time instead of chocolate chunks I just added nestles chocolate chips. Brownies have crispy edges and fudgy texture but this is more cake like . Reply 1. Amanda Rettke says: August 10, 2024 at 6:20 pm You changed the recipe and then got different results than expected? Maybe try the recipe as is. It's a wonderful brownie.

I wonder why…

ELLEN July 14, 2021 I didn't have almond meal so I made the crust with 1/2 oatmeal and half whole wheat flour. It was sort of like eating wet sand. I am going to look for another recipe next time. The peach filling was pretty good but the crust was terrible.

So a different recipe?

Allrecipes Member 09/06/2022 Good basic recipe. I made the following tweaks. I made a short crust pastry instead of a traditional pie crust. Substituted the white sugar with half maple syrup/brown sugar. I added a TBSP of dark rum and I substituted the cinnamon with a pinch of nutmeg. Also, I melted the butter and incorporated directly into the sugar. Topped it off with lemon juice over the pears before closing the pie. Helpful (1)

That was not necessary

The only reason I am not giving this recipe five stars is because I did not do the sheet pan burger. I did use the rest of the ingredients and the secret sauce recipe and it was seriously spot on and so good!!! I just forms a little smash Pattie's then seasoned and seared them. Followed the rest of the steps and wow. Everyone in my house. loved them

Egg hater

dana crysler DECEMBER 21, 2021 AT 1:12 PM REPLY You don't need eggs. They are full of cholesterol and unhealthy. Just use flour and milk and lemon jus. It's so boring when all the recipes don't try new things. Eggs are for dinosaurs who are dead.

Mmm, salt

I'm familiar with this style of recipe. I dinged you one star only, because at your age you guys probably don't have to think about sodium, but Sriracha and soy sauce and other things like miso are loaded with sodium, so a little sensitivity in your recipes for people who cannot have all the sodium they might want would be appreciated. Many older people in North America are best limited to around 1500 mg a day, and that sauce, delicious though it may be, is a sodium bomb. Thanks!

That's a lot of chipotles

T TC 2 months ago Excellent recipe! I read "1 to 4 canned chipotles" as 1 to 4 CANS chipotles". Yes, I used one full seven oz can of chopped chipotles which is 10 chipotles. It was heaty, but still tasty. My family questioned if I should decrease the amount of chipotles for the next time. I believe. 5 chipotles is the right amount for me because I don't really like it being too heaty. Hard to screw up this recipe!

No way…

JaneCamle May 1, 2024 Recipe was easy, simple, and tasty. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star is because my oven exploded afterwards which made the dump cake a little hard to enjoy. Reply Helpful (0) Report

Then just eat the fruit

Samantha says April 13, 2023 at 3:01 pm TOO MUCH SUGAR!!! I made it without any sugar. Theres plenty in the fruit alone. Why give everyone diabetes. My sponge was flat and the cake had no taste. And the icing was slop. Reply.

Cream is cream, right?

JESSICA S. says: February 18, 2023 Made this pie tonight for the family. I didn't have any heavy cream on hand so I subbed sour cream instead. The texture was ok, but the flavor was pretty bad; way too tarty for my taste. Not sure if I would want to make again. LAURA says: Reply February 22, 2023 You used a completely wrong ingredient 58 and then gave the original recipe a tw star review? It doesn't call for sour cream, or shaving cream, or cream cheese. It calls for heavy cream. Reply

Wonder why it's tart

Sally August 13, 2023 10:38 am Hubby hates chocolate so I left out the cocoa powder and chocolate chips and doubled the rhubarb. Sorry to say we were both disappointed with the results. You'd think a whole cup of sugar would make it sweet, but it was extremely tart and unpalatable, and the texture was strange. Far from the tasty treat we were hoping for... not sure what went wrong! Who asked?

7 months ago I'm going to make these but skip the sugar. They're pancakes, not candy. Seems pointless to me to add sugar to something that you're going to be pouring a pile of syrup over. Reply Don't see that anyone asked. 1 month ago

A little salty

poppyhopeyounghizpi2v- 9 months ago It's alright when cooking, but the salt is unreal! I sug- gest using half or 1 a teaspoon of salt. I did 1 table. spoon and a half and all I could taste was salt! If you do this, don't do as much salt. It's not bad, but there is too much salt included. Reply Nicola Boulton 4 months ago Recipe is 1/4 of a teaspoon lol

Fair enough

Comments I don't enjoy much bell pepper, I'll have to find a replacement for it, but don't know what. Reply it's a bell pepper soup. If you don't like bell pepper don't make a bell pepper soup. Reply View 15 more replies 38 661

What went wrong?

January 1, 2021 at 8:29 pm I followed the recipe exactly except that I replaced oil with applesauce. Unfortunately, I did not turn out well. It's consistency is neither brownie like nor cake like. I can't eat it. Sadly, will have to dispose the whole thing. I don't know what went wrong as I followed the recipe exactly. Reply
