Just about everywhere you look nowadays, there's some sort of news article that is spreading the word on some new disaster, scary piece of technology or other anxiety-inducing story. It is hard to avoid the news, media and the general happenings of life. While it is good to stay informed, sometimes seeing everything that is going on can be exhausting.

On top of that, there is barely a space left in the world that is free from advertising. All day long companies are trying to sell and upsell products, and as a result, the billionaires keep getting richer while mostly everyone else struggles to get by. The world we live in, while maybe not seen by most as a dystopia, kind of is one, in some ways.

When you take a step back to see what is going on, how much technology is advancing and taking over, and the amount of consumerism in the world, it is kind of shocking. On Reddit there is a subreddit called "/r/ABoringDystopia."

This subreddit refers to the way our world is a dystopian one, but it isn't like the dystopian worlds seen in novels and movies; it is rather boring in comparison. Some of the content on there is quite eye-opening. Here are 25 images and posts from various events around the world that highlight how weird it all is.
