The appearances of places and some buildings has changed a lot over the decades. What places looked like years ago are not how they appear today. This is due to a number of things, like an increase in technology, buildings, and population. Technology advancing and population growing means new buildings, bigger cities, and changes in architecture. This means that many major cities, monuments, and other popular sights have altered in appearance slightly or drastically. Some of them are almost unrecognizable, which is kind of crazy. It's pretty cool to see just how much things have changed in a relatively short amount of time.
The huge skyscrapers across New York were once never there and all of the hustle and bustle of major cities did not exist in the past. Some now abandoned places were once popular hangout spots, some relics were once major advancements, now just normal structures. Seeing what kind of history is behind very popular or even small scenes is interesting and fun.
There are tons of photos online of cities, historical buildings, and other famous sights back in the past compared to now. Here is a collection of 25 side-by-side photos of how places looked way in the past and how they look today.
