25 People Who Should Stay Far Away From The Kitchen

Cooking is a skill that not everyone has. Some people are great cooks and chefs, while others struggle to make eggs. At some point in everyone's lives, though, there will come a time when food must be made. Whether it's for someone else, a party or for themselves, everyone has to cook eventually. Luckily, there are online recipes to help. Online recipes are a savior; they provide people with a list of ingredients and steps to make the meal. Still, though, some people just can't seem to get it right, and that is apparent in the reviews. There is nothing more insane than some of the reviews left on online recipes.

Whether it's a dumb alteration or someone who doesn't know how to work an oven, people are blaming the recipes for their faults. Reddit's /r/ididnthaveeggs is a subreddit where users share all of the most insane recipe reviews they have come across while searching for something to make. Some of them are straight-up shocking. Here are just 25 of them that are so facepalm-worthy.

Oh Diane…

L.Diane Verified Buyer I was so excited 02/13/11 I was so excited about making this bread. Sadly, it turned out very flat and dense, hard. Thought I followed all the directions...the only difference was that I used all white ww flour??? I am sure it was something I did. I will be trying again with this or another french rustic. Read less King Arthur Baking Team I am sorry to hear that your experiment was not successful. Yes, White Whole Wheat is a 100% whole grain flour. It performs completely differently than the bread flour called for. If you are looking for a 100% whole grain loaf, I suggest: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/no-knead-

A cry for help is dramatic

G Goldie3 10/01/17 Verified Buyer This is not This is not so much a review as it is a cry for help. Everyone seems to have great luck with this bread but me, and I so want it to work. I could really use a good, interesting, hearty sandwich bread. Cannot use salt in it for health dense very - reasons. Have made it twice. Both times underbaked in the middle and no holes. For my oven, I believe a temperature of 375, then going to 350 for 45 min+ might work, or possibly something along the lines of 450 then down to 375. Also next time going to try half bread flour half all purpose flour. Also going to be untimid about making cuts in the top - I believe deep cuts may be necessary so that the heat gets through. Would welcome any suggestions. Read less

It was an apple cider recipe

Allrecipes Member 12/21/2023 The recipe was great. Unfortunately I didn't have any apples so I substituted potatoes instead. The potatoes ended up over cooked and the end product didn't give me that taste from my childhood. Overall 8/10 Helpful (1)

Not quite

= goodFOOD 1Q Elizabeth Cowling-Jones 4 years ago I think the main reason that there is too much nutmeg flavour is that Allspice and Mace are the same thing. so I personally would not add the extra 2tsp of ground mace.. Allspice/Mace is the flower around the nut- meg nut which is dried and ground. it has a similar flavour to nutmeg but is way stronger. Mixed spice is not easy to get in germany only through the expensive british shops so I will be making some tonight. For those of you living in germany Allspice/mace is called Piment Macis and can be found in most good supermarkets.

So you didn't follow the recipe

Cyndi D. 04/17/2023 Too much parsley and oregano. My pork was a little salty, so I should have tasted the soup before adding the salt. I omitted the pepper and chili powder. I added lots more milk and half & half, canned corn with liquid, frozen peas and carrots, pieces of broccoli, and some leftover Borscht I had. Then I thickened it to make it more of a chowder. It was edible, but I won't make it again. â–  Helpful (0)

Don't believe in refrigerators

Phoebe Buskey 01/17/2024 So, my grandmother was born/raised in Yorkshire and I am used to her recipe, I wanted to make the *real* Yorkshire pudding but couldn't find my family recipe so I came to this in a pinch and what a disappointment! Refrigeration? My grandmother didn't even have a refrigerator as a young girl growing up in rural Yorkshire. What a complete joke. â–  Helpful (1)

Meatless chicken stir fry

kdonahue 04/16/2024 I made this for meatless Tuesday and just omitted the chicken. I used 2 bags of Birds Eye Steamfresh Broccoli, Carrots, Sugar Snap Peas & Water Chestnuts, 10.8 oz. I doubled the sauce which was a mistake because it was way way too salty. I added gochujang to the sauce and made it over rice. Next time I'll try it with the chicken and see how it turns out. Weeds!

"JUSTTABANDME" MARCH 13, 2021 AT 7:00 PM REPLY We *love* traveling in Ireland, and in all our times there, we *never* had colcannon prepared with anything else but cabbage! It's not a St. Patrick's day "gimmick" food, any more than corned beef and cabbage is an Irish staple!! It's simply a fabulous ethnic side dish, that needs no re-inventing. Especially not with plants that not too long ago were considered "weeds", not to be allowed to take root in your garden patch. LISA BRYAN MARCH 16, 2021 AT 8:29 AM REPLY So just because *you've* never had colcannon with anything other than cabbage, that means it's a gimmick? Oh, geez. I didn't reinvent it with kale. I've had it with kale in Ireland and there are numerous regional variations of it, as there are with many cuisines. Perhaps you should do a little bit more research next time. If you go to Irishcentral.com (clearly, an authentic resource) you'll see they say, "It normally includes chopped kale or green cabbage mixed with hot, floury mashed potatoes." Even Wikipedia notes that it's often made with kale.

Wonder why it didn't taste right…

Allrecipes Member Easy to follow 09/11/2024 Out of milk and flour. I used what I had: yellow squash, a russet potato (to help thicken the soup), cherry tomatoes, a shallot, 1/4 of a red pepper, 2 chicken bullions, a bay leaf, and all purpose seasoning. I pureed some of the soup. Later I added a packet of mac and cheese powder and some Mexican cheese blend. Of course the taste isn't quite like Panera's but I am happy w/ the results. Helpful (0)

Perhaps

000 OOO 000 se + Scott Brooksby °* 3 years ago I tried this recipe. I substituted cottage cheese for the yogurt because I had none. I used butter instead of coconut oil and oatmeal ground up for the flour. It seemed dry without the strong taste of banana. Perhaps I should have doubled the number of bananas. perhaps too many substitutions. B ° 70 Reply ☑

Thanks, Joe

JoeBKS September 3, 2023 at 3:07 pm They were tasty but not the best. I made them exactly as directed except for a slight reduction in all that sugar and baked as directed as well. I took them out of the oven before the toothpick came out clean at 3" from the edge and they were still more cakey than gooey. They also didn't rise well. They barely achieved an inch in height. Otherwise they do taste great. I saved the recipe and may try them again with a bit of baking powder and earlier removal from the oven. Thanks for putting this out there! Reply The Recipe Rebel September 6, 2023 at 12:37 pm Hi Joe! I'm sorry to hear you had trouble. If anything was reduced then it wasn't made exactly which could result in the brownies coming out more cakey than gooey, but it's hard for me to know for sure what went wrong. Reply

Phil gets it

Phil August 20, 2023 at 3:18 am Reply I made 4 modifications to this recipe and it turned out wonderfully. so I gave this recipe a 5 star rating because that's what everyone else did after they didn't follow this recipe. Pamela S Mahana August 13, 2023 at 9:22 am Reply another option for this is 3 cucumbers peeled and quartered in chunks 1 small onion diced P very small, 1/8 c sugar, 2 teas pepper, 2 - 3 table spoons of vinegar, 1/4 -1/2 cup of mayo (miracle whip). mix and let sit for an hour in fridge. This gets wiped out at our family dinners

Eggs are for dinosaurs

dana crysler DECEMBER 21, 2021 AT 1:12 PM REPLY You don't need eggs. They are full of cholesterol and unhealthy. Just use flour and milk and lemon jus. It's so boring when all the recipes don't try new things. Eggs are for dinosaurs who are dead.

Um, okay?

F Notes Done All Helpful Private Add Frank 2 years ago Many years ago I was planning a Mexican themed dinner, courtesy of the Food Network's Too Hot Tamales and they had the same directions, which i followed, except I was enjoying some margaritas and passed out, I mean, I fell asleep. I was awoken by the sound of a shotgun going off in my apartment. Except it wasn't a shotgun, it was the dulce de leche....all over my kitchen. I did wipe some off with a finger and tasted it.
