25 Recipe Reviews From People Who Should Probably Stay Out Of The Kitchen

For some people, cooking comes naturally to them. There is no denying the fact that it is a skill, some people have it and others will be eating takeout forever. That's what online recipes are there for though. When a meal is laid out with clear instructions, measurements and timing, cooking becomes fairly easy, as long as the recipe is good. So, of course, another important part of recipes online is their reviews. It takes some brave people to try out a new recipe to see if it works. Some people, however, just don't have the basic skills to do so.

Whether it be substituting one ingredient for another or totally missing or changing a step, they ruin the entire meal and then blame it on the recipe. Sometimes one has to be skeptical about the reviews for the reason of the inept home chefs that exist. From Reddit's /r/ididnthaveeggs, here are 25 insincere recipe reviews from people who just shouldn't even be trying at all, let alone blaming the recipe creator for these errors.

A Banana Just Isn't An Egg

MOIRA posted: 4 months ago ROSE-VALANTINE hi x this didn't work me me and my husband are non gmo gluten free vegans and cannot use egg so I substituted this for massed banana and it just would not set I followed all of the instructions so I think it may be my oven unfortunately that cannot maintain temp and in the end it was really runny and tasted quite bitter so not sure what happened but I won't be trying this again im sorry what a waste. -90 SARAH AUTHOR posted: 4 months ago REPLY Hi Moira, an extreme substitution like using mashed banana in place of egg for an egg custard tart is not always going to work. I'm sorry that it felt like a waste of time, but sometimes one just has to acknowledge that a banana isn't an egg, you know? 80 REPLY

Huh?

Ugh why do vegans always substitute egg with nuts?! The whole point of me searching for eggless is due to allergies to eggs and nuts. If you are going to substitute eggs then DON'T use another well know allergen. Reply Melanie McDonald says November 10, 2023 at 3:59 pm What?? I'm confused because there aren't any nuts in this recipe. And also nuts are neve Q used as a substitute for eggs in any vegan recipes.

And Who's Fault Is That

J James892 ly ago Not sure if it was stale broccoli or what. I bought it fresh from the produce department this morning and prepared the salad shortly after noon today. I put the salad in the refrigerator for 2 hours, but the broccoli was ANYTHING but crisp. After 20 minutes of picking out every last piece from the salad and throwing it, I ended up with the makings of a Waldorf salad. I'll stick with the Waldorf from now on. Reply ● 11 22 ... ●

Water Gravy

Allrecipes Member 11/23/2023 I use lactose free milk however I was out of this so I used water.I think milk would help with the gravy flavor in the end.The water made the gravy rather bland save for the pepper.I also added 4 tsp pepper, sample, good amount of pepper. This taste like FLOUR gravy with pepper, I'm not really a fan of it.I think if I had the sausage it would be a better gravy for my biscuits of which are the ones mentioned in this recipe.I made the biscuits, I'd say they need a little special touch of something for flavor.I found the biscuits recipe made great dumpings by adding 1/4 more milk.I'm going to give three stars for this gravy for what it's worth. What it's worth, a good base recipe to tweak until it's perfect to my taste. Robin S. December 12, 2022 What is gingerbread spice? Does it really exist? 10 Comment 3rottiesrule December 12, 2022 Yes it does exist. McCormick makes it. If your grocery doesn't carry it, you can make your own by combining cinnamon, ground ginger, allspice & nutmeg. I like adding just a pinch of cloves. 10 Comment

The Noodles Aren't Noodling

John Doe says: September 11, 2023 at 1:18 am Well, we used corn starch instead of potato starch. The noodles never really got noodly enough and fell apart in the pot. Ended up being a sort of mushy gnocchi. Flavors were great though! May try again with the proper starch.

Alright

J All Notes Done Private Helpful Julie Rake | 1 day ago Well, except for the milk (Yuck, WHY would anyone do that?), this may be an OK recipe. I will pass, and do my own combo of gluten free corn bread and Trader Joe's GF bread with lots of celery and leeks and some sausage and chicken broth for moisture. But I will top the dish with sage leaves before i put it in the over. So thanks for that tip. Add

I'm going to make these but skip the sugar. They're pancakes, not candy. Seems pointless to me to add sugar to something that you're going to be pouring a pile of syrup over. Reply 7 months ago Don't see that anyone asked. 1 month ago

January 1, 2021 at 8:29 pm I followed the recipe exactly except that I replaced oil with applesauce. Unfortunately, I did not turn out well. It's consistency is neither brownie like nor cake like. Raeanne ✩✩03/30/2022 I wouldn't make this. My husband can't have the peanut butter- substitute almond butter, I don't eat bananas, not sure what to substitute. I'm more for the option of some frozen berries; or almond butter/nuts with carrots or celery sticks for finger food.

Too Many Carbs

8:12 THE modern NONNA Michelle August 29, 2023 at 1:26 pm The Modern Nonna 447% The breadcrumbs alone add 36g carbs. Divide by 6 patties, and that's 6g carbs in each patty from only the breadcrumbs. Plus the carbs from all the other ingredients (numbers you don't provide). Is there something I can use as a substitute for the breadcrumbs?! August 30, 2023 at 1:13 am REPLY REPLY Hi Michelle, this may not be the right recipe for you if you don't want to consume carbs. The breadcrumbs are necessary for binding and balancing moisture.

Then Why Try and Find Another

Karissa 01/01/2009 My mom's are SO0000 much better. My recipe has been in our family since 1789, and it is the best I have ever tasted. No molasses cookies could even begin to compare to my recipe. These are tasteless and bland. I do not reccomend this in the least bit to anyone. I won't share my recipe, though, it's a family secret. Don't try this recipe. I would give it 0 stars if possible.
