28 Terrible Recipe Reviews Left By People Who Shouldn't Be In The Kitchen

Cooking and baking are skills not everyone has. Everyone, at some point, needs to learn the basics, though. Eventually, everyone will be in a place where they need to make something either for themselves or for someone else. To help out with that, there are online recipes. Online recipes are lifesavers for so many people. Whether they are college kids on their own for the first time or someone who signed up for a potluck, online recipes are amazing.

Even with these simple, easy-to-follow recipes, though, some people still manage to mess up. This is apparent when reading the reviews for recipes. People totally out themselves for the terrible chefs they are. They admit to not following the steps, making insane alterations, and even judging the recipe just by the name without even trying it. These are the kinds of people who not only should never be allowed to review things ever again, but they also should stay far away from the kitchen. Here are 28 wild recipe reviews that prove the ratings aren't always accurate.

A teaspoon of sugar

monicasauve June 23, 2024 Ingredients: I cut back by a third on the sugar and still way too sweet the dough doesn't "bloom" half as much as expected..- if this is what you want - you might as well buy the frozen. dough at the grocery store.. there is no sour dough tang, there are no air bubbles to lighten the dough- it's a heavy madd of dough - will definitely look for a better recipe..- this was grosd..I don't know anyone who would eat this! Living in the country- No one would eat this "block," 3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour, plus more for rolling 1 teaspoon sugar 1 envelope instant dry yeast 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees F 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons

Why bother rating then?

0 I gave a neutral rating because this is the first time using this recipe. Currently I have the brine in the refrigerator to cool. I am going to use it for Poblano as well as Serrano peppers. I hope this recipe will achieve something similar to the commercial pickled I went with the recipe as per but not sure of the exact amount of fresh dill so I just went with what it to I'll besure to update in a few days. 136

Irrelevant

Ruth Breedlove ✰ 09/14/2023 If you truly lived in Hawaii, you would know this isn't true chicken katsu. We HAD chicken katsu while in Hawaii & it's about the katsu sauce, which is Hawaiian BBQ sauce, in a sense. This is nothing but bland fried chicken. True katsu chicken puts furikake seasoning in the panko crumbs & comes with the katsu sauce. This is an insult to true Hawaiian chicken katsu.

Yeast in a cake?

+ I just baked cake for the first time two days ago. And it was awful I think I put too much yeast it smelled horrid and tasted sour Any tips on how I should measure the yeast? Alex 1 week ago Listen sometimes in life you skim a recipe in the afternoon and think it says "Apple cider vinegar" and then when you go to make it at night you don't have "apple cider" but you figure you can salvage it with a mixture of ACV broth and honey and sometimes you're not quite right

When boiling fish smells like fish

10/06/2023 I saw the review for one star from a person who didn't bother to make an Anthony Bourdain recipe. Instead they based the star on their experience with smelly hallways- not bothering to actually try a complex recipe. Just hoping this starts to average it out. Now I'll go make it and let the rest of you know. Helpful (1) F&W Stu B ✰ 10/02/2023 I love a bouillabaisse, however, our family made home made gefilta fish and the boiling of fish heads and bones to make the broth was overwhelmingly horrible and smelled up the house and apartment hallway and neighborhood in a bad way. I imagine the smell of this recipe is similarly unpleasant. Helpful (0)

At least they gave five stars

R Rhorton22 9y ago After reading the reviews, I tried this. As I did not have curry or majo on hand, this was omitted as was salt (based on other review that it was too salty). Used. miricle whip, It was very good. Next, I added the following as it was on hand and I wanted a diff flavor: chopped orange, yellow peppers and celery. Garlic and onion powder, salt, sweet pickle. Next, I tasted it with a cracker and the dip seemed to salty so I added more Sweet pickle relish to balance it out. AWESOMEThis recipe is very flexible and can be easily adjusted based on what you have on hand. What do YOU think?

AlBa May 20, 2017 at 7:56 am Hello, Thank you for this lovely recipe, the taste and smell were already forming in my head! However, when I tried making them the first trial batch spread too much and became flat greasy sheets of "cookies". So I decided to chill the dough for 24 hours before baking, this time the cookies spread again but not as flat as the ones before. I admit I did play around with the recipe a little, like I used 3/4 cup of butter, instead of butter and coconut oil, I also exchanged 1/4 cup of the sugar with brown sugar, and I added some gel food coloring. What do you think went wrong? I personally think its the white sugar, coz MOST cookie recipes call for both brown and white sugars, with brown having a higher ration. By the way, they tasted very good, i made half the batch with white chocolate chips, the other half with chopped macadamia nuts. Thank you!

Do NOT do this

Brenda says This is bubbling and rising but tastes foul. I had a spoonful then my husband did. He nearly vomited. There's no way I'm making bread with this. Melanie McDonald says Please don't eat raw sourdough starter. It is intended to be baked with, not eaten as it is. Also it contains raw flour which can cause food poisoning.

They're cookies…

ESTD 1790 ая W M Mary-Ann Verified Buyer 12/03/14 My eight year old My eight year old son has been asking me for chocolate chip cookies forever but to me it's unthinkable to make any recipe that calls for 1 cup of butter (!!) and 1 cup of sugar (!!). Okay, I know this is America... but is there a way to make this without putting the child in a sugar/fat comma? | could just leave the sugar out since chocolate chips have so much sugar in them, but what about the butter, how can I substitute it? Please, don't say, use oil (I've seen it in other recipes). Thank you. Read less |||

I wonder why

SHARON 11.29.23 at 5:28 pm Okay, I think I am the exception to the rule. I used yukon gold potatoes because it's what I had on hand. I also used condensed milk. Otherwise, I followed the recipe to the letter. I ended up with a pot of wallpaper paste. Kind of sad. REPLY CAROLYN 01.16.24 at 2:27 pm Condensed milk is a thick syrup and sweet. That does sound like a recipe for disaster. REPLY 1.6K

We don't believe in refrigeration

Phoebe Buskey 01/17/2024 So, my grandmother was born/raised in Yorkshire and I am used to her recipe, I wanted to make the *real* Yorkshire pudding but couldn't find my family recipe so I came to this in a pinch and what a disappointment! Refrigeration? My grandmother didn't even have a refrigerator as a young girl growing up in rural Yorkshire. What a complete joke. ■ Helpful (1)

What…

Cyndi D. 04/17/2023 Too much parsley and oregano. My pork was a little salty, so I should have tasted the soup before adding the salt. I omitted the pepper and chili powder. I added lots more milk and half & half, canned corn with liquid, frozen peas and carrots, pieces of broccoli, and some leftover Borscht I had. Then I thickened it to make it more of a chowder. It was edible, but I won't make it again. ■ Helpful (0)

Some things aren't for everyone

La Dilettante's Review for PUMPKIN GOOEY BUTTER CAKE (PAULA DEEN) review by La Dilettante 10/14/2012 I hesitated to even rate this, because I really don't like giving negative feedback. But As I don't know Paula Deen personally, and care not if I offend her, I have to say...ugh. Instant Type II diabetes on a plate, The only reason I gave it any stars at all is that I served it to a group of ladies (bridge club) who DID love it---but, frankly, these darlin' gals would eat sugar right out of the sack, so...hmmm. This is the last time I ever make a recipe with "Gooey" in the title. (Actually, this may have been the FIRST time I ever did!) ✓ Like ☐ Replies 1 SeaCat 10/29/2016 Really? Thanks for sharing.
