Though everyone knows it isn't good to lie, sometimes it just happens. Most of the times when someone lies it's just a small one, one that doesn't really have much impact and is forgotten about quickly. For others, lying is their favourite pastime and they love to do it online especially. Some people make a whole hobby out of lying online. Everyone who lies online has different goals with it, many of them do it for the attention, some do it to spread some sort of message or propaganda, others do it just because they are bored. The one thing though that unites all of these people is that they are generally really bad at it. Some of the stories that get told are so unbelievable that no one's ever going to buy them.

They're so obviously fake it's embarrassing and makes anyone cringe. These fake, clout-chasing stories can be found anywhere, but they commonly get collected into Reddit's sarcastically titled subreddit /r/ThatHappened. This subreddit is made for sharing the most obviously fake stories out there. Here are 15 head-shakingly bad ones.
