Sometimes, unintentionally, things that were not meant to scare people, end up scaring them anyway. This happens especially with old things, it seems. The threshold of what was considered spooky seems to be way lower many years ago than it is now for some reason. Take old dolls for example, at one point those were considered kid's toys, now looking at old porcelain dolls gives a kind of eerie vibe. Maybe they weren't always scary, but sometimes time does take a toll on things.
