For whatever reason, some people take lying online very seriously. Some people treat it like a whole hobby all on its own. Some people live to lie on the Internet, but unfortunately for them, some of them are really bad at it. In general, people should be honest, but if someone is going to lie the least they can do is make it believable.

There are some common elements that are used amongst these very fake stories. They usually contain some sort of miraculous element, like something that wouldn't just normally happen. They always try to push people a certain way, like making readers think they are a good person or siding with their beliefs, and they always end with some perfect ending, like everyone clapping at the end. All of these elements contribute to them being so obviously fake.

Whether people tell these bad stories to push an agenda, to make themselves seem like good people, or just for attention, the bottom line is that they are cringeworthy. Reddit's /r/thathappened is a subreddit filled with so many stories that definitely did not happen. Here are 25 of them.
