Do Jackrabbits Really Eat Cows?

Back in February 2025, TikTok user and farmer @thefarmerfran posted a video of himself chasing jackrabbits away from his field, calling them "thumper monkeys." At one point in the video, he says that jackrabbits eat calves, a claim that many commenters found surprising.

The video gained over 13 million views in just three months and was followed by many other videos from the user claiming that jackrabbits eat cows.

While the TikToker's performance is convincing, there is no evidence to suggest that jackrabbits eat cows. Jackrabbits are herbivores, and while they can cause problems for farmers if they eat from the patches of grass meant for the cows, a jackrabbit cannot and will not eat a cow, no matter their size or age.

In the end, the video is just a joke.
