It seems like a new piece of internet slang goes viral on TikTok every other day and the latest piece of slang comes hand-in-hand with a trend. The phrase "Muah, no bars," comes from JT of the rap duo "City Girls" and an original sound using the term has been lip dubbed to thousands of times in a few short weeks. Here's what "no bars" means and how to use it.

What Does 'Muah, No Bars' Mean?

"Muah, no bars," is a reference to the song "No Bars" by rap artist JT, one half of the rap duo "City Girls." The song went viral in 2023 and ends with the line, "No bars," essentially meaning she's out of bars to rap. At the end of 2023, she posted a now-viral video on TikTok where she says, "I don't even say bye no more, I just say 'muah, no bars,'" and blows a kiss to the viewer.

Essentially, "no bars" is used as an alternative to "periodt," meaning "end of conversation" in the most emphatic way possible. You're basically saying there are no more bars left to be spit, with the optional "muah" at the beginning adding an extra bit of drive to the phrase.

How Is 'Muah, No Bars' Used In Memes?

Ever since JT posted her viral video blowing a kiss and saying the phrase, TikTokers have turned "Muah, no bars" into a powerful slang term and TikTok trend. The trend has users lip dubbing to JT's video alongside a comedic, often self-deprecating caption describing an "end of conversation" situation.

One viral example features the caption, "Me after saying something savage to my boyfriend knowing I'd cry if he said the same to me." Another reads, "Me after making a comeback that makes no sense at all," a topic that a lot of us can probably relate to. The trend has also inspired a spin-off sound where the phrase is altered to, "Muah, blocked," gaining its own little slice of success alongside the original.
