On July 15th, 2024, TikToker @orlandospeciality posted a video where he criticizes people who judge women by their arms. The video went viral with over 12 million views in just a few days. One commenter posted a negative comment about women with septum piercings that seems to suggest you can judge women if they have the piercing, writing, "what if it's someone with a septum?"
The comment gained over 25,000 likes and, for some reason, inspired the TikTok AI to make "septum arms" the recommended search term under the video. That means, TikTok's AI pinned a blue, tappable comment at the top of the comment section reading "septum arms," which, when tapped, searches the term for users. This inspired commenters to wonder what exactly septum arms are, with others calling the TikTok AI out for "glitching" and promoting the made-up term.

Ever since the video went viral, unaware TikTokers have been making videos wondering what septum arms are. In some videos, the user claims to be unable to find the definition and wonder if they have septum arms. Others are posting videos directly parodying the original by @orlandospeciality, but using the term "septum arms" instead of simply "arms" without context.
Some TikTokers have taken the term to mean "chubby arms," although this is not true.
