What Does 'Up, Right, Down, Down, Down' Mean? 'Helldivers 2's 'Eagle 500kg Bomb' Meme Referenced On Charlie Kirk's Shooter's Bullet Casing Explained
Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter has been revealed in a press conference, and apparently, he had a reference to the Eagle 500kg Bomb ability and meme inscribed on an unfired bullet casing.
During the press conference, it is claimed that the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, had an up arrow, right arrow and three down arrows inscribed into a bullet casing or shell, a pattern that might be recognizable to Helldivers 2 players.
So, what is the Eagle 500kg Bomb meme, and what does it mean? Here's what you need to know.
What Is The 'Eagle 500kg Bomb' Meme?
In February 2024, the online third-person shooter game Helldivers 2 was released. The video game has a "stratagem system," which lets players take four abilities with them into a match. These abilities are activated by inputting specific commands into the game via the arrow keys or the directional pad (D-pad). One ability is the Eagle 500kg Bomb, a powerful, single-use tactical airstrike (similar to a mini nuke) activated by inputting up, right, down, down, down.
Only days after the game's release on February 11th, 2024, Redditor u/BigOrganization posted a meme to the /r/Helldivers subreddit referencing the bomb by its input code. The meme, which uses the With This Treasure I Summon format, gained over 1,500 upvotes and started a meme within the Helldivers 2 fandom, where the Eagle 500kg Bomb's code is referenced in funny contexts.
How Is The 'Eagle 500kg Bomb' Used In Memes?
Memes about the Eagle 500kg Bomb became very prevalent among Helldivers 2 players between 2024 and 2025. Most of the memes reference its immense power by showing characters deploying it in funny scenarios to destroy things.
Many of the memes refer to it only by its activation code as a wink to other players, since they're the most likely people to recognize the pattern.
Like the Konami Code, the Eagle 500kg Bomb input code has become one of the more recognizable patterns in modern online gaming communities in recent years.
Was The 'Eagle 500kg Bomb' Meme Referenced By Charlie Kirk's Shooter?
Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, was revealed on September 12th, 2025, during a press conference. At the event, details were given by officials regarding what was inscribed on the casings of the weapon allegedly used by the shooter.
Prior to this, it was initially reported that phrases relating to "transgender" and "anti-fascist" ideologies were carved into the shells of the bullets used in the rifle.
Reportedly, one of the unfired bullet casings had the code for the Eagle 500kg Bomb, "↑ → ↓↓↓," inscribed on it, along with, "Hey fascist! Catch!"
It is unclear why the alleged shooter would inscribe this on the bullet, and nothing official has been said. Some have hypothesized that it is a reference to the power of the Eagle 500kg Bomb, while others suggest it's just a dark joke or meaningless reference.
However, given its prevalence online over the last two years with the surge in popularity of Helldivers 2 and memes related to the game, it's plausible to attribute Robinson's use of it to the stratagem found in the game and related memes.
Some of the other phrases inscribed on the bullet casings reportedly include, "O Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao" (an Italian song dedicated to the Italian resistance fighting against the occupying troops of Germany), "If you read this you are gay lmao" and "Notices Bulges 'OwO What's This?'" (a reference to another meme relating to the furry community).
