What Is A LarpTuber?

A LarpTuber is a YouTuber whose channel is solely dedicated to roleplaying, or LARPing, as another YouTuber. For those who don't know, "LARP" stands for "Live Action Roleplay," and has become a big slang term lately to describe someone who acts like someone else.

The first prominent LarpTuber was Larpiplier, a Markiplier LarpTuber who posted his first few videos in mid-May 2026. In the videos, Larpiplier shamelessly acts like Markiplier, mimicking everything from his voice and his mannerisms to his editing style and more.

Larpiplier proved successful, gaining nearly 100,000 subscribers in about a month and even getting noticed by Markiplier himself, who seemed to be perfectly fine with what Larpiplier was doing.

Now, Larpiplier's success has brought on a wave of other LarpTubers who are riding this nostalgic wave as far as it will take them.

How Are 'LarpTubers' Being Discussed Online?

LarpRubers really started going viral in early June 2026. At the start of the month, TikTokers began posting edits and compilations using clips from LarpTuber videos.

These edits celebrate the LarpTuber genre as a return to a better era of YouTube, with most of the targeted YouTubers (Markiplier, PewDiePie, Drama Alert, etc.) being some of the biggest and most talked-about channels in the 2010s.
