JollyTok seems to have been started by TikToker @gnaw.bonez on March 14th, 2025. That day, they posted the earliest apparent JollyTok video, which details the rules of the movement, explaining that you must use polite language, treat others with respect and respond to all hate with kindness.

Essentially, JollyTok is all about being as positive and happy as possible and spreading that positivity to others. The overly wholesome memes seem to be a play on another viral memetic trend, JuggTok, which uses a similar wall-of-text format.

The creator of JollyTok continued to post videos about the movement over the next few days, with one example that further explains the creed of JollyTok gaining upwards of 170,000 views in just three days. Soon enough, other TikTokers started posting videos spreading the joys of JollyTok.
