What Is The '56 Meme?' The Forced '67 Meme' Variant That's Now Replacing The '61 Meme' Explained

There's a new ironic number trend called the "56 Meme" that's trying to replace the lauded "67 Meme" that's dominated the internet all year.

"Fifty-six," or "five-six," is one of many forced numerical memes that have parodied the "67" craze in recent months. However, unlike its forefather, the "56 Meme" only has one defining image that comes from the original TikTok video: A Black teenager spazzing in a car, seen saying the number like a stereotypical mentally disabled person.

So, why is "56" a meme? Let's try to explain this crude remake that's making the rounds on social media.

Where Did The '56 Meme' Come From?

Back in September 2025, a TikToker named @bigslush21 decided that he had had enough of the 67 meme. He proposed that a new number, 56, should take its place.

Unfortunately for him, his video received little support. But he pushed the idea in subsequent TikToks, insisting that 56 also had a song: Future's "56 Nights." In a desperate attempt, he tried to make it a thing, using the song's existence as evidence of a divine prophecy.

56 didn't catch on as a meme right away. Instead, other numbers like "41," "93" and "61," in order, rose as 67's successors. Each number's accession to memedom cemented a new trend in a post-67 world of forcing new numbers into ironic, inside jokes among the internet's "niche community."

The 56 prophecy came to fruition when TikToker YungJayJayy (@yungjayjayy_wrld) posted a video of himself in a car. He's seen wearing a pink Odd Future hoodie and a black durag. He's also in motion, seen slapping his chest and twitching, like a caricature of a special needs student.

He repeats "56" in a severely Autistic voice, doubling down on the video's edgy undertones.

How Is The '56 Meme' Being Used Online?

The video's degenerate aura seemed to resonate with meme creators, who started reposting YungJayJayy's likeness across social media. The 56 Meme's spread largely manifested in quote-tweets in which users found the number "56" being organically mentioned.

One prominent example, posted by X user @Gee_7556, dug up a 2018 tweet from the late Charlie Kirk that included a percentage with the number in question.

The popularity of the 56 Meme can be rationalized by looking at the rise of the "61 Meme" from last month.

"I never got the 67 meme," one X user wrote at the end of October, "like it came out of nowhere and I was confused and stone face, but 61 is so stupid that every time I see it I cackle like a dying hyena."

The user's perception of the 67 Meme, as oversaturated hivemind humor, led to their adoration of the 61 Meme, which acted as a total breakdown of Six-Seven's popularity. With middle schoolers everywhere spamming the number in real life, it's no wonder that anti-memes like 61 and 56 hold so much power.

When will these forced 67 variants end? It's hard to tell. A new one seems to pop up every week now, like "89" and "-67" in recent days, mirroring the rapid cancer cell-like growth of "Italian Brainrot" characters from earlier this year.

56, though, with its edgy punchline, seems to be the true bottom of the barrel. But who knows? Perhaps the chronically online are concocting a new subversion right now as we scroll.
