Instagram user @daily_upl's video definitely resonated with viewers. It received a whopping 261,300 likes in the following weeks. @daily_upl has even built on the video's success by bringing back the baby in other AI video monstrosities.

The baby is obviously rotoscoped onto a different clip, similar to other memes like the "Rick and Jerry Dance" or certain scenes from the animated show Smiling Friends. After a little bit of digging, all roads lead to a Chinese influencer named Xiucai ("秀才"), who is quite infamous on his home internet.
Reports out of China, like from the outlet Jimu News, state that Xiucai, a Douyin influencer, allegedly defrauded some of his followers out of thousands of yuan. His videos attracted many older women, according to the report, seemingly because he's handsome and his video style is simple. He mostly lip dubs popular songs and does his signature "holding back a laugh" gesture.
The Xiucai video that was used for the AI Baby Holding Laugh meme was posted sometime in 2023. It shows him in a blue shirt, approaching the camera just like the baby, and covering his mouth with a cheeky pose. If you track his movements, you'll see the Niche Baby quite clearly.
