Buc-ee's is a beloved travel center in parts of the United States, but TikTokers are going viral for rebranding the destination as "Al Buqqi."

Videos are popping up across TikTok and Instagram Reels that show people making a Hajj (an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca) to the popular chain, and many of these videos use an interesting flag that shows the mascot, Buc-ee Beaver, surrounded by Arabic words.

So, what's up with the "Al Buqqi" meme, and what does it mean? Here's what we know.

What Is The 'Al Buqqi' Meme?

The seed for the Al Buqqi memes was planted back in June 2025. That month, Instagram user Crab Rangoons began selling flags that place Buc-ee Beaver, the mascot for Buc-ee's, around Arabic text. These flags rebranded the beaver as Al Buqqi.

These flags directly reference the Muslim religion, and they actually garnered Buc-ee's attention. The company threatened to sue Crab Rangoons for selling them.

Then, at the end of August 2026, TikToker @d1.is300.hater posted a video consisting of footage of a Buc-ee's travel center captioned, "Inshallah, I made the hajj to Al-Buqqi." The video also shows an image of the Al Buqqi flag. It went viral, inspiring a wave of similar memes.

How Is 'Al Buqqi' Used In Memes?

The Al Buqqi meme comedically compares Buc-ee's to Mecca, the holiest city in the Islamic faith. Islamic people are expected to make a pilgrimage, or Hajj, to Mecca once in their adult lifetimes.

In these memes, Buc-ee's acts as a stand-in for Mecca, but instead, it's the U.S. version of the holy pilgrimage.

Most of the videos consist of footage of Buc-ee's, often set to Islamic music and edited to include the Al Buqqi flag, with funny captions about taking a pilgrimage to the location.
