What Is The 'Heart Butt Challenge?' How To Do The Spicy Viral Internet Trend From Japan Explained
Social media users are always thirsty for a new internet challenge, but a recent Twitter and Instagram trend has thirst levels shooting off the charts.
It's called the "Heart Butt Challenge" or "Heart Butt Pose," and it's been going viral across social media in recent days as more and more people decide to try it out for themselves.
But where does the Heart Butt Challenge come from, and why is it going viral right now? Here's what we know.
What Is The 'Heart Butt Challenge?'
The Heart Butt Challenge was started when X / Twitter user @miss_preeti563 shared a photo by Japanese cosplayer @kykyky618 (Kathy) at the end of March 2026.
The photograph shows the cosplayer bending over at the waist from behind with her hands meeting behind her knees. This pose makes her body look like a heart.
After the post by @miss_preeti563 went viral, @kykyky618 posted another version of the trend, this time in a pink dress. Soon enough, a whole trend was sparked on Twitter and Instagram.
How Is The 'Heart Butt Challenge' Done?
The Heart Butt Challenge is a simple internet trend to take part in. While most of the participants are women, men are also getting in on it.
In addition to both serious and unserious participation, some artists are even drawing popular characters from various IPs doing the trend.
To do the challenge, you first need to bend down at the waist until all that can be seen is your posterior and legs. Most women do the trend in a tight dress, but others wear pants.
Then, you put your arms behind your legs and touch the tips of your fingers at the lowest point possible, generally around the knees.
When a photo is taken from behind at this angle, it makes the subject's body resemble the shape of a heart.
