Anime fans are often hesitant to recommend the English dubs of their favorite series, and a viral JoJo's Bizarre Adventure scene is quickly becoming a perfect example of why that might be.

The so-called "Everyone Get In the Car" scene is now inspiring memes across TikTok, Twitter / X and Reddit, including everything from recreations to copypastas and more.

But what is the context of the bizarre scene, and why is it going viral right now? Here's what you need to know about the Hermit Purple meme.

What Is The 'Everyone Get In The Car' Meme?

The "Everyone Get In the Car" meme comes from the English dub of episode 14 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 3 – Stardust Crusaders, titled "Justice, Part 1," which was released back in November 2017.

At one point in the episode, Joseph Joestar goes to jump into what he believes is a car, saying, "Everyone, get in the car! We are leaving this town now!" Then, as he's in mid-air, the car transforms into a spiked fence in an attempt to impale him. Mid-Air, Joseph yells, "Ah, what the? Impossible! This isn't the car!"

Joseph then uses his Stand, Hermit Purple, to escape the situation. The car, it turns out, was an illusion.

How Is The 'Everyone Get In The Car' Scene Used In Memes?

The scene went viral on X at the end of April, then on TikTok on May 1st, 2026, when TikToker @asova.ae posted an edit based around it, writing in the post description, "what even is dub bruh 😭." The post is meant to highlight the arguably poor delivery of Joseph's lines in the scene.

As the edit went viral, TikTokers began posting comedic recreations of the scene. Some of these recreations are done in real life, while others use action figures or other mediums to reinterpret the scene.

Others on sites like X and Reddit are using the dialogue as a copypasta and adding Emojis in between the words. Some are also making memes depicting spiked fences as Joseph Joestar's biggest enemy, playing off the absurdity of the scene.
