The "Trollface," one of the most well-known faces on the internet, is making a big comeback on TikTok, but this time he's been AI-generated to appear as creepy as possible.

The meme is known as the "Realistic Troll Face," and he's quickly taking over apps like TikTok and Instagram Reels not only as a meme, but as a tool for pranking.

So, where did the Realistic Troll Face come from, and how exactly is it being used online? Here's what we know.

What Is The 'Realistic Troll Face' Meme?

For those who don't know, Trollface is a Rage Comics face and meme from 2008 that is used to represent trolls and online trolling in general.

Since 2008, he's become one of the most iconic pieces of meme imagery online, alongside prominent examples like "Doge" and "Pepe the Frog."

In late November 2025, Instagram user Linus Ekenstam posted a strange AI-generated video of a creepily realistic-looking Trollface with a human body. In the video, Trollface says, "Hey! You might know me already, but I’m here to introduce myself as the most famous man on the internet. The main question, though, what does a simple man like me do for a living?"

The video gained hundreds of thousands of views, but wouldn't become a widespread meme until late April 2026.

That month, TikToker @tyymemes posted a photograph of a teacher's computer screen. On the screen is an email consisting only of the realistic Trollface image. The image is captioned, "Told teach to check his email," suggesting the uploader pranked his teacher with the face.

The video gained over 1.4 million views in just a few weeks, and the TikToker continued uploading images of himself pulling the prank on people around his school. This helped spread the image and inspired a wave of memes on TikTok and Reels, leading into May 2026.

How Is 'Realistic Troll Face' Used In Memes?

As a meme, the realistic Trollface is being used in several ways. Some people are turning the character into a brainrot meme and using AI to alter the face and make it do absurd things. Some people are even trying to mimic the meme's facial expression.

Others are using the image to prank people, especially teachers, by having them open emails or files containing the face. Some are even saying that Trollface's return is a sign that the "Great Meme Reset" actually happened, we just had to give it more time.
