There's always a new dance on TikTok, and one of the most viral dances since October 2025 is the "Scuba Dance."

The scuba dance and its accompanying song, fittingly called "Scuba Juke," are now more popular than ever after being picked up by NFL players as a celebration dance and featuring in memes like the Nick Wilde Scuba Dance GIF.

But what is the "scuba meme," who made the scuba dance trend, where did it come from, and why is it so popular? Here's what we know.

What Is The Scuba Dance?

In October 2025, content creator and rapper Desean Hawk Logan-Russell, also known as h5wk, posted a dance video set to his original song "Scuba Juke."

The dance involves h5wk holding his nose closed with one hand and waving the other hand back and forth in front of him, while opening and closing his knees to the beat. Over the next few months, the dance became known as the "scuba dance."

This simple dance move went viral throughout October and November 2025 as TikTokers posted videos of themselves performing it. At the end of October, it even featured prominently in the controversial "Flip the Camera" trend.

How Is The Scuba Dance Used Online?

Videos of people doing the scuba dance can mostly be found on TikTok and Instagram Reels. These videos involve either individuals or groups of people doing the dance, often adding other dance moves into the mix to make it their own.

In November 2025, NFL players were also filmed doing the dance, showing its spread beyond social media and helping to introduce it to a larger audience.

Between February and March 2026, the scuba dance experienced a significant resurgence. Numerous videos of people doing the dance went viral on TikTok, including a video in which someone does the dance with Chuck E. Cheese.

In March 2026, the dance went viral via a reaction GIF of Nick Wilde, the protagonist from Zootopia, performing the dance. The meme even sparked some arguments on Twitter about AI animation vs. hand-made animation.
