What's The 'Savant' Meme Of A Woman In Glasses Looking At A Computer Screen? Jessica Chastain's Viral Meme Explained

An image of actress Jessica Chastain wearing glasses and looking at a computer screen in a dark room has become a viral meme template on Twitter / X lately.
The photo is from her upcoming Apple TV+ show, The Savant, in which she plays a professional investigator tasked with infiltrating online hate groups.
Many X users, including those with a taste for edgy humor, have found the show's premise, about a white woman basically pretending to be an incel Discord mod, amusing. In retaliation, they're memeing Chastain's likeness into oblivion.
But how is this meme being used online? What is the new show The Savant, and where did the "Jessica Chastain at the Computer" meme come from? Let's explain.

Where Did The 'Jessica Chastain At The Computer' Or 'The Savant' Meme Come From?
Last Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, a film-centric Twitter account, @FilmUpdates, reposted the trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ show The Savant, starring actress Jessica Chastain as a professional investigator (named Jodi Goodwin) with a specialty for infiltrating online hate groups and preventing large-scale attacks.
Her nickname: "The Savant."
Chastain's character is seen wearing glasses and looking at a computer screen in one scene. The monitor's reflection glows blue in her eyewear. The Discord notification sound echoes in the dark room she's hunched over in.
"You in or what?" the message reads.
"YES," she replies in all caps.

The trailer was quote-tweeted by several users in the following days, and many of the most viral reactions to it were negative.
"Can't wait for the new TV show about the liberal deep state woman with a multiracial family that stops right-wing terrorism by monitoring our internet!" wrote one X user with a sarcastic tone. "They've really got their finger on the pulse with this one, I tell you."

However, an X user named @Delicious_Tacos was the first one to use the screencap of "The Savant" looking at her computer screen. They paired the image with a screenshot reading "@PaulSkallas blocked you," referring to the notable X user LindyMan.

How Is The 'Jessica Chastain At The Computer' Or 'The Savant' Meme Being Used Online?
X users spread the meme template in subsequent days, following the same format of imagining what Chastain's character is thinking, reading or writing when interacting with the seedy extremists on her laptop.
Most of the memes portray her as clueless, in line with the original criticisms of the show's plot. "What an incredible look into the power fantasy of people who put #resist in their bios," read one viral tweet, skeptical of the show's casting.
Controversial racial and political talking points are making up a significant amount of the references in these new memes.
"They are asking me how I would feel if I hadn't eaten breakfast this morning? But I DID eat breakfast this morning," read one example, referring to the infamous Breakfast Question originally used by 4chan users to demean "low IQ" people.

The meme has notably found a home among conservatives and right-wingers in America. For instance, right-leaning thinker Curtis Yarvin called the trend an "incredibly powerful new meme" in a recent tweet.
The current U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also hopped onto the trend, sharing a tweet on Monday, September 1st, that captioned the image of Chastain, "'They protest against the deportation of illegals to foreign countries, yet wave flags of the same foreign countries at these protests. Interesting.'"
