What's The Unfinished CGI Version Of 'A Minecraft Movie?' The Pirated 'Temu Version' Of The 2025 Film Explained

A leaked version of the new A Minecraft Movie with unfinished CGI is spreading on piracy websites and social media, coinciding with the film's April 2025 release.
Scenes like "Welcome to Steve's World" and "Release!" look half-baked and hilarious in this so-called "Temu version." At first glance, a lot of people believed that the bad print was the final cut.
Many fans and haters alike have been panning the film ever since its first trailer was released, so maybe people weren't surprised.
But where is this unfinished version of A Minecraft Movie coming from anyway? Is it even real, and what are some of the reactions to it? Let's explain.

Where Did The Unfinished CGI 'Minecraft Movie' Come From?
While we cannot legally share any links to this version of the film, Know Your Meme has confirmed it's real and being hosted on various pirating sites.
The version making the rounds right now is hilariously incomplete. The actors switch at whim between live-action and 3D renders. Several animals and mobs are sometimes fully pixelated.
On Wednesday, slightly ahead of the film's U.S. release, Twitter / X users leaked scenes from the film that they watched on these illegal streaming sites. "I was assuming it was some guy recording it in theaters when it came out," one X user said.

As more people confirmed the rumor, scenes from the pirated version continued to leak on social media. "Do NOT pirate the Minecraft Movie 😭," one TikToker joked.

What Are People Saying About The 'Minecraft Movie' CGI?
The pirated version with the bad CGI confused a lot of initial viewers because some were saying that the film's CGI was surprisingly solid. "Am I watching the right version of the movie? Why is the CGI bad for mine when the other reviews said it was good?" asked one X user in a viral tweet.
This "good CGI" impression might be spreading in conversations happening offline, but critical reviews are not as forgiving. "Hollywood has spent over a decade conditioning us to expect blockbusters to be riddled with bad CGI, dull stories, and uninspired performances," wrote DiscussingFilm, "Somehow, this video game movie adaptation has reached a new modern low."
When the first trailer was released last year and everyone saw that pink sheep and llama, many automatically assumed that the CGI was going to eclipse Ugly Sonic and Axl's Apparation levels of low-quality.
This pirated print seemed to confirm that fear for many, but savvy pirates understood that they were getting an early copy — presumably a screener or promotional copy someone leaked. They're basking in the absurdity of it, finding that ripe joy that watching a terrible movie with friends provides.
