No other House of the Dragon character has inspired as much discussion about the way they speak as Mysaria, whose distinctive accent has been a target of memes since the show's first season back in late 2022.

By season three in 2026, those jokes had evolved into an entire meme format in which virtually any internet catchphrase could be rewritten in her voice and addressed to "Your Grace."

Known as "Mysaria's Accent" memes or "Mysariaposting," the trend exaggerates the character's peculiar pronunciation even further by phonetically rewriting dialogue and pairing it with screenshots of Mysaria (played by actress Sonoya Mizuno) speaking to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen.

But where did the jokes about the character's accent begin, and how did the image of Mysaria sitting at a table become its own meme format in recent weeks? Let's explain.

Where Do The 'Mysaria's Accent' Memes Come From?

Mysaria, also known as "The White Worm," first appeared in House of the Dragon (HOTD) when the series premiered in late August 2022.

Played by Japanese-born English actress Sonoya Mizuno, the character speaks with a distinctive accent intended to reflect her origins in the fictional Free City of Lys.

HOTD viewers began commenting on Mysaria's voice almost immediately as she appeared on screen.

One of the earliest known memes appeared on the /r/freefolk subreddit on August 29th, 2022, when a Redditor paired the caption "Hearing Mysaria's accent" with the Mourinho Disgust reaction meme.

Another meme using the "Running Away Balloon" format posted that same day joked that her accent was interfering with their enjoyment of the series even as it was just getting started.

Discussion surrounding the performance continued throughout the show's first season, with viewers debating the accent and creating memes that attempted to replicate its pronunciation through intentionally misspelled dialogue.

The character's accent was subsequently adjusted between seasons following criticism from viewers, but it doesn't seem to be enough since discourse and memes referencing it have only continued to grow.

How Are Memes About Mysaria's Accent Used Online?

Mysaria's accent remained a recurring joke among House of the Dragon fans over the following years, but the format experienced a major resurgence during the show's third season in the summer of 2026.

This version of the meme, particularly popular on the /r/freefolk subreddit, typically uses a screenshot of Mysaria sitting at a table while speaking with Rhaenyra.

Users add captions written phonetically to imitate her accent, frequently ending the dialogue with "Your Grace" or an intentionally distorted variation like "yur grays."

Many examples insert well-known internet catchphrases and meme references into the scene as though Mysaria were delivering them to the queen.

Viral variations referenced memes including "Switching To Your Pistol Is Always Faster Than Reloading," "The Bluetooth Device Is Connected Successfully" and "They're Eating the Dogs," with each phrase rewritten to exaggerate Mysaria's pronunciation.

By late July 2026, the format had become so prevalent in the /r/freefolk community that users began making memes complaining about the abundance of Mysariaposting itself.

One example featured King Robert Baratheon from Game of Thrones demanding, "STOP THESE MYSARIA POSTS IN THE NAME OF YOUR KING," marking the point when jokes about the character's accent had become an established recurring meme within the show's fandom.
