Harkening back to the "Worst Person You Know Just Made a Great Point" meme, many of Ted Cruz and Tucker Carlson's strongest critics are having a field day online after watching an interview in which the former Fox News host pressed the Texas Senator on the Israel-Iran conflict.

While clips from the nearly two-hour-long interview have been flitting around the internet for the past week, there's one particular segment that caught the attention of meme creators: Tucker Carlson asking, "How many people live in Iran?" and catching Ted Cruz off guard.

Now, Carlson's quizzical, open-mouthed expression as he sets up Cruz for the interview flub has spawned its own genre of memes. Here's a recap of all the memes about Tucker Carlson Asking Questions.

What Was Tucker Carlson's Interview With Ted Cruz About?

Tucker Carlson released a contentious interview clip with Texas Senator Ted Cruz on June 17th, 2025, pressing him on his stance regarding the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The interview covered Cruz's support for regime change in Iran and America's role in the escalating tensions.

But the moment that captured the internet's attention came when Carlson began testing Cruz's actual knowledge about the country he advocated overthrowing.

Carlson asked, "How many people live in Iran?" Cruz admitted, "I don't know the population." Carlson pressed further: "You don't know the population of the country you seek to topple?" When Cruz deflected by asking the same question back, Carlson delivered the rebuttal, "92 million. How could you not know that?"

Tucker Carlson posted a clip of the interview segment to his X account, gathering nearly 40 million views and 160,000 likes in three days as it quickly went viral online.

How Did Ted Cruz React to Tucker Carlson Clipping the Interview?

The day after the interview on June 18th, 2025, Senator Ted Cruz went into defensive mode, posting his response to Tucker Carlson and said, "Did a long interview w/ Tucker. He released a snippet playing a 'gotcha' on the population of Iran. I declined to play that silly game."

But Cruz's most memorable response came in the form of an AI-generated comic that showed Tucker Carlson asking Luke Skywalker from Star Wars about the population of the Death Star, which (ancient spoilers) he blew up in the original trilogy's finale.

In an aside, many Star Wars fans were quick to note that according to book two of the The Black Fleet Crisis , Luke Skywalker did know about the population of the Death Star.

The internet took Tucker Carlson dunking on Ted Cruz and ran with it. X user @loganclarkhall kicked things off on June 18th, 2025, with a Dune reference, crudely editing a stillsuit noseplug onto Tucker and writing, "You say you want to cultivate desert power and you don't know how many spice fields are on Arrakis?" gathering over 70,000 likes in a day.

Meanwhile, X user @witte_sergei drummed up AI images of Tucker in full Mongol armor, grilling Cruz about Genghis Khan. "You support regime change in Mongolia but you don't even know how many cavalry the Great Khan has? What's the ethnic makeup of the horde?" The tweet gathered over 17,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, @CoorsLightCEO posted Carlson's mouth-agape expression with the caption, "How many people work at DocuSign?" referencing an electronic signature company sometimes maligned online for having a monopoly on the industry.
