An imaginary Uber Eats driver named Amir is all over TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts because he's said to be the "GOAT of food delivery."

The video format is called "text stories." There's a video in the background, like Minecraft parkour, and an iMessage conversation with Amir in the foreground. Of course, these aren't real text conversations. They're all generated with AI.

So, where does this meme come from? Let's explain.

Where Does The 'Amir The Uber Eats Guy' Meme Come From?

The memes originally surfaced on TikTok and YouTube in September last year. So far, the earliest discovered Amir video was posted by a TikToker named @daily.textstories2.

The format was largely popularized on YouTube though. So-called "Amir Story" videos on there received the most engagement, like some shared by YouTuber Luco that received upwards of a million views every time.

These Amir videos exist at the end of a few precursor trends, the most notable being the Manjeet vs. Bobir trend from 2023. It was about powerscaling Uber drivers based on their stats, like video game or anime characters.

Also, Amir videos are formatted like classic sludge content and brainrot. The ADHD video in the background, meant to maximize visual stimulation, comes from these two genres of internet slop.

How Are People Making 'Amir The Uber Eats Guy' Videos?

These Amir "text story" videos are being made with a myriad of AI services online. People are likely using a combination of ElevenLabs (for voices) and ChatGPT (for scripts) and combining them into video form.

So-called PDF to Brainrot generators are another likely culprit. These websites create "Reddit story" and "text story" videos, combining all of the elements for you.
