Detroit-based rapper Dank Demoss is making headlines after announcing that she's suing the rideshare service Lyft for discrimination.

Now, Demoss has become the subject of a wave of memes across social media taking aim at her weight, with many taking the side of the Lyft driver.

So who exactly is Dank Demoss, why is she suing Lyft and what's everyone saying about her lawsuit? Here's what you need to know.

Who Is Dank Demoss And Why Is She Suing Lyft?

Dank Demoss, real name Dajua Blanding, is a rapper based in Detroit, Michigan. She's been posting her music online since around 2019 and has acquired around 170,000 followers on Instagram in that time.

Demoss has released a handful of music videos on YouTube over the past few years, with her most viral gaining roughly 90,000 views in the last six months.

On January 19th, 2025, Dank Demoss posted a video to her Instagram that showed her having a confrontation with a Lyft driver.

The Lyft driver is seen refusing to pick Demoss up in his car, claiming his car is too small and his tires won't handle her weight. Demoss was around 480 pounds at the time, according to her Instagram.

The driver remains calm in the situation, offers her a refund and suggests she order an Uber XL. However, it seems these solutions didn't work for Demoss, as she recently announced that she's suing Lyft for discrimination.

According to Demoss' lawyers, who spoke with Fox 2 Detroit, "denying someone a ride based on their weight would be the same as denying someone because of their race or religion — at least under the law."

How Is Social Media Reacting To Dank Demoss' Lawsuit?

Social media has not been kind to Demoss since she announced the lawsuit. Many people have taken the side of the Lyft driver, claiming that his worries about his car were justified and Demoss was simply too heavy for the vehicle. This has resulted in a lot of memes picking apart Demoss' weight.

One viral meme edits an image of Demoss walking down a hallway under the caption, "Become unlyftable," a play on the "Become Ungovernable" meme. Others imagine RFK Jr. as the Lyft driver, playing off RFK's fixation on making America healthy.

Since announcing the lawsuit, Demoss has posted several rap videos on Instagram, and many commenters now seem to think she's using the suit to drive attention to her music.
