This prompted speculation that the viral persona had been created purely to promote a cryptocurrency and meme coin, with some users raising concerns about a potential rug pull scam.
On September 20th, an Instagram post discussing the token claimed it had reached $4.6 million, further connecting Jean Phil's sudden viral growth with crypto discourse.
The combination of Jean Phil's abrupt appearance, AI-generated memes and the associated meme coin consequently became part of the character's online mystique, with users debating whether they were watching the organic rise of an eccentric new internet personality or a deliberately engineered viral marketing campaign.
Now, another character has popped up named "Archibald Brown," created as an English counterpart and rival to Jean Phil. Similarly, there's also a meme coin based on this character that's appeared amid his rise.
