In the creative children's game Roblox, custom maps are played constantly, as a fun way to experience something new within the game that is unexpected. One of the most popular custom maps, called Regretevator involves playing through different layers of levels while things can be wildly different from one level to the next. One of the things that changes is what characters the player can find, and Gnarpy is the fan-favorite by far, but what exactly is Gnarpy?

What Is Gnarpy?

Gnarpy is an alien cat that stands up on two legs and tries to communicate with the through garbled sounds. Those with a background in viral memes will pick up that the sound used for Gnarpy is the exact same as the viral video of a Zoom meeting in which a child forgot to switch off their voice changer, leading to a sound that would later be used for memes involving cats edited into looking like green aliens.

Gnarpy is meme'd a lot through the use of Fan Art of the character, both in a 2-D space and 3-D through editing the model on top of other things.
