The Weekly Meme Roundup: Beabadoobee's Crashout, 'Shrek 5' Redesigns, Running All Over The Place And More

February is over and the month really went out with a roar thanks to a teaser for Shrek 5, a catchy song about the McDonald's in the Pentagon and an arguable overreaction to a meme by pop artist Beabadoobee.
On top of that, the first annual "Slime ya HB" day took place on February 26th and musician Chandler Matkins gave us the song of the summer early with his "Running All Over the Place Blue in the Face" rap.
Here are the five biggest memes of the last week that you need to check out.
Beabadoobee Can't Sing / Artists Who Can vs. Can't Sing
Some people simply do not want to become the subject of memes, and pop artist Beabadoobee made that very clear this week when she spoke out against a series of artists who can vs. can't sing that targeted her specifically.
She fell for the ragebait 😭😭💔💔💔 pic.twitter.com/z95cgcKQxa

The memes, which joke that Beabadoobee can't sing while claiming rapper NBA YoungBoy can, inspired the pop artist to post several Instagram Stories calling out the "incel men" that she assumed make and enjoy the memes. These got her a lot of backlash from men who thought she was being sexist by singling them out.
She pulled back just a little after that, posting another video claiming that it's the creepy and harassing comments these videos inspire that really get to her, but this didn't stop people from commenting on the situation, with many taking a firm stance against Beabadoobee.
Some people thought she was overreacting to and ultimately misinterpreting the memes, which use a clip of Beabadoobee actually singing very well in contrast with an edit of NBA YoungBoy that replaces his voice with opera singing as lasers shoot from his eyes. Still, Beabadoobee's stance against the harassment in her comments is valid and her videos have also gotten her a lot of support from her fans.

@uptothebell Beabadoobee vs NBA Youngboy: Which Artist is ACTUALLY the Best? 🤔 Based on the viral TikTok meme “Artists who can sing vs Artists who can’t sing”, I asked students around my college campus which artist they thought was the best between Beabadoobee and NBA Youngboy! Beabadoobee, born Beatrice Kristi Laus in 2000, is a Filipino-British singer-songwriter known for her indie rock sound influenced by 90s alternative, grunge, and lo-fi music. She also recently went viral after “crashing out” (twice) over a meme, that was clearly a joke and not an attack on her as an artist. NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden in 1999, is an American rapper known for his raw lyrics, emotional intensity, and prolific output. Emerging from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he gained recognition with 38 Baby (2016) and continued to dominate with chart-topping projects like AI YoungBoy 2 and Sincerely, Kentrell. His music blends pain, aggression, and vulnerability, reflecting his turbulent life. Despite legal challenges, he remains one of hip-hop’s most streamed artists, known for his deep connection with fans. With his relentless work ethic and authenticity, NBA YoungBoy has solidified himself as a major figure in modern rap. #fyp #xyzabc #viral_video #beabadoobee #nbayounggboy #musica ♬ Turandot: Nessun dorma – Luciano Pavarotti
February 26th Slime Ya HB
Back on February 17th, TikToker @notfromadonis announced that February 26th would officially be the day to slime your homeboy and guess what? That was this week.

The uninformed might think that "sliming" your homeboy is something unsavory. They'll probably think the same thing when they hear the alternate name for the event, "National Backdoor Day."
However, "slime ya HB" day is actually about backstabbing your friend on the 26th. So, the truth is still kind of unsavory, but at least it's a little better, right?
The original video inspired a constant stream of memes about betraying your friends leading up to the 26th. This included videos offering tips on how to avoid getting slimed and memes about what your homeboy might see the minute before getting slimed.
If you managed to avoid getting slimed this year, make sure you've got February 26th, 2026, circled on your calendar. There's always next year and in this world, it's either slime or be slimed.

Running All Over the Place Blue in the Face
The song of the summer came early this year thanks to rapper Chandler Matkins, who recently posted a preview of his song "BIG BODY BROTHERS" to TikTok that's got everyone singing, "Running all over the place, blue in the face, looking like Sonic."
@chandlermatkins I’M RUNNING ALL OVER THE PLACE BLUE IN THE FACE LOOKING LIKE SONIC
It's no surprise that this song blew up on social media this week. Everything about it is just ripe for memes, from the lyrics to the passionate delivery to the camera angle, with Matkins standing to one side of the frame and spitting bars as if his life depended on it.
Some people went viral for drawing some very fair comparisons between the rapper and streamer CaseOh. Others poked fun at the song, calling it coworker music, but maybe these people simply don't understand art and should not be trusted.
At this point, the video has become a staple brainrot meme that has users recreating it, speedrunning it and referencing it across not only TikTok but social media in general. It would be wise of you to keep a very close eye on this man's career. Who knows what kind of heat he'll drop next?

"McDonald's In the Pentagon" by Silly Stu
Did you know that there's a McDonald's in the Pentagon? Well, a lot of people learned that fact for the first time this week thanks to a catchy ska song by Silly Stu.
@sillystu4u FULL SKA VERSION!! thanks again to Spencer0ni on twitter!! #mcdonalds #pentagon ♬ McDonalds in the Pentagon – Silly Stu
Earlier this month, musician Silly Stu released an acoustic, rough draft of a song titled "McDonald's In the Pentagon" about, you guessed it, working at the McDonald's in the Pentagon. Their acoustic rendition blew up, then blew up even harder after they released a ska remix of the song.
Obviously, ska music isn't everyone's taste (or even most people's taste) but this one was catchy and funny enough to break through the barriers of even the biggest ska haters, turning it into a pretty big meme on X, TikTok and YouTube.
On TikTok, people started posting videos celebrating the song and admitting that, despite being ska, it's actually a pretty big banger. The more artistically inclined started posting animations and art set to and inspired by the song.
Some people even voiced their desire for a TV show about people who work at the McDonald's in the Pentagon. If only we could all get together and share a Big Mac at the McDonald's at the Pentagon, maybe then we could achieve peace.

Shrek 5 Character Redesigns
Finally, the long-awaited teaser for Shrek 5 dropped this week, revealing that Zendaya will be playing Shrek and Fiona's daughter but, more importantly, that the characters' designs have been slightly upgraded. Queue: a wave of social media hysteria.
Shrek fanatics (which is pretty much every Shrek fan) have been waiting for a long time to get an official look at the next entry in the franchise, but many were sent into a rage spiral after seeing the upcoming film's animation.
Many thought the characters' designs were significantly downgraded, with Shrek and the gang inarguably looking a little more cartoony than in previous films. This has inspired a lot of discourse, arguing and memes online, including calls for Dreamworks to pull a Sonic 2020 and reanimate the whole film.
On the other hand, there are a lot of people pushing against the backlash, calling it overblown and suggesting that the animation is better than it ever has been. Obviously, the important thing is that the movie is good, but we won't know that until its December 2026 release date. Until then, we might as well have some fun complaining.
