The Weekly Meme Roundup: J.D. Vance Face Edits, Transgender Mice, Bobby Liebling Stare, I Call Patrick Subaru And More

It might still be chilly outside, but March is bringing the heat as far as memes are concerned thanks to people like Vince President J.D. Vance, metal singer Bobby Liebling and Patrick Star, or "Subaru."
While this week has been absolutely dominated by bizarre J.D. Vance photoshops, we've also seen some interesting discourse about transgender mice, some shocking leaked footage of the canceled live-action Powerpuff Girls reboot and one of the bigger SpongeBob memes in recent memory.
Here are the five biggest memes of the week that you need to catch up on.
J.D. Vance Photoshops
There's something about U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance's face that apparently compels people to photoshop it, and that undeniable urge came to a head this week as social media was flooded with J.D. Vance photoshops and edits.

People have been photoshopping Vance's face since as early as October 2024, with one early example turning him into a stereotypical Chad. However, the newest wave of Photoshop edits, which really started taking off this week, looks to take Vance as far away from Chad-dom as humanly possible.
Some of the most popular examples fatten Vance up to make him resemble a baby, while others take things a step further by altering his skin, giving him insane hair, putting him in strange situations and generally making him look like a total goober.
Some social media users have been collecting every so-called "Rare Vance" they see like they're Pokemon cards, and with the rate these things are coming out, the dedicated collector can probably look forward to many more rare pulls in the coming days.

I Call Patrick Subaru
One of the more bizarre memes to blow up this week comes from the widely memed series SpongeBob SquarePants, and it's all about Patrick Star, or should we say, "Subaru."

The seed for this meme was planted back in 2021 when Kmh1481, a member of the SpongeBob Fandom wiki, made a comment expressing her disappointment in "Subaru" for joining in on "no Spongebob day" during an episode of the series. This prompted another user to ask who Subaru is, with Kmh1481 responding, "I call Patrick Subaru," as if this is common knowledge.
The comment thread was screenshotted and posted to X, then Reddit and finally TikTok in March 2025, going more and more viral with each repost. The TikTok upload garnered significant attention and inspired a wave of memes referencing the post.
These memes refer to Patrick as "Subaru" and paint him as a bad friend to SpongeBob, often taking moments from the show and exaggerating them in ways that make Subaru look bad. The memes are all over TikTok right now, and they're going nowhere fast, suggesting the nickname "Subaru" might stick around for a while to come.

Bobby Liebling's Stare
The lead singer of the long-running doom metal band Pentagram was immortalized as a meme this week thanks to the haunting stare he gave the crowd while performing "The Ghoul" in California at a recent show.
@rapper_holics Got the chance to see Pentagram at Brick by Brick again the other night after probably ten years. You can always expect a badass show if they're on the bill.. 'The Ghoul' live gets me every time🪦💀 #fypシ #foryou ♬ original sound – Rapperholics
This wide-eyed stare, accompanied by wind-blown hair, is something that Liebling has done in the past, but it only went viral after someone posted a clip to Instagram.
That clip quickly spread across social media and inspired praise for Liebling's impeccable stage presence, along with a lot of memes. One of the first memes to really make the clip go viral compared Liebling to a Regular Show villain, which honestly, seems fair.
Since then, the stare has become the subject of a wide variety of memes, from fan art to image macros and beyond. Mostly, people are using it to portray a general sense of confusion, surprise or shock, like a meme that uses the face to represent the feeling of trying to remember if you turned the stove off before you left the house.
Whether you're a metal fan or not, the video is undeniably cool and anyone can get in on the memes.

The Powerpuff Girls Live-Action Reboot
Back in 2020, Hollywood got everybody nervous when a live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls was announced. That reboot was later canceled, and now, everyone can see why after footage from the show leaked online this week.
Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? We really dodged a bullet with this Powerpuff Girl live-action reboot. #ThisCantBeReal pic.twitter.com/ziZdBBCJIk

The trailer was leaked yesterday, and it quickly spread across social media, but it hasn't been getting a lot of love.
Most people are relieved that the show never made it past this initial footage and are taking the opportunity to make fun of everything from the cast to the premise to the way they turned villain "Mojo Jojo" into a father-son duo named "Mojo" and "Jojo," the latter of which is killed. Basically, the show looks bad and it's inspiring not only a lot of discourse online but also a fair share of memes.
Memes about the series actually started popping up years ago after the show was first announced, with people already assuming it was going to be bad, as many live-action remakes of cartoons are. Thankfully, Powerpuff Girls fans across the globe can mark themselves safe from this one.

Transgender Mice
The topic of "transgender mice" went viral this week after the President claimed that the Biden administration was spending about $8 million to make mice transition, causing a bit of a stir on social media.

These allegations actually started surfacing back in December 2024 and popped up again in February, but Tuesday marked the date when the President made the claim during his address to the joint session of Congress. Unfortunately, he was mixing up the term "transgender" and "transgenic," which refers to genetically modified mice and does not directly relate to human gender identity.
Ever since he made the claim, the internet has been arguing about the topic of transgender mice, with many still claiming that government funds were going towards transgender mice. Twitter user @robbystarbuck even shared sections of a study supposedly aimed at researching puberty blockers for transmasculine youth, which used mice in its testing.
The whole situation has unsurprisingly upset a lot of people on social media, who are now arguing back and forth into the void with heated messages and memes.
